5 Year Blogiversary + 2017 In Review Friday 29 December, 2017

Hello friends! Excuse the hiatus. December was my month to breathe. As a blogger/online journalist this is not just my hobby this is my job. I decided to bring in peace for the rest of 2017, I would just take a break. Also it’s my own gift to myself for making it to five years of blogging with KiwiTheBeauty.com! Cant you all believe it? I made it to five years here.

I do an annual celebratory blog post for each blogiversary. but this one will look slightly different. Usually its laced with all of my favorite blog milestones and accomplishments, but I am going to highlight my 2017 highlights and discoveries. Makes it more personal. I sometimes feel like bloggers/influencers have a me-me-me complex about them and its really shouldn’t be a keeping up with the Jones’s platform. Not me. I didnt get to five years to gloat on how much better I am than everyone, because I am not. Check out five of my top highlighted personal moment I discovered in 2017.

1.Month Long Ambassadorship in Panama

Traveling to Panama for a month was literally the highlight of my 2017. Hands down some of my favorite memories was created in Bocas Del Toro. Fridays was Filthy Fridays. I went to school day. I made some really great friends. Life moved at a slower but peaceful place. I ate mostly organic food! I was in paradise every day. Habla Ya! was challenging because I literally was going back to school Mon-Fri to brush back up on my Spanish, but it was liberating to learn. It is such an amazing school, and the school also had excursion that allowed me to see how beautiful the island was and the culture.

2. More Travel With Friends

Travel was definitely in strong force this year again. It is safe to say I am a true travel journalist now. I love it, and even better I got to travel with some friends too on many of my trips.  Check out some of my cool blog coverage with friends in Macon, GA | Columbus, GA | Augusta, GA | Pittsburgh Cheers Tour | Myrtle Beach,SC | Carnival Cruise Vista | Jekyll Island, GA

3. Bridesmaid for My Favorite Cousin

This is not blog related at all but its a big part of my year in review. My cousin got married, and she surprised me this year by asking me to be IN her wedding. When she called me I cried. She is my favorite cousin, but I had no clue she would have me in her wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding and it was an honor to be there for her on one of the biggest days of her life. Here are some amazing photos from that day!

4. Found Love Again

Another one not related to blogging but a shocker to my life of 2017. I found love. Ok love found me. I do not talk about my love life on my blog because for one I am semi-private in that area. Two is basically because I am alway in some kind of “complicated situation and I think at this point I wont talk about a love life until I am close to being engaged or something. This love discovery this year was shocking because it came out of nowhere. I now know why they say it is called falling in love. It needs to be called fighting in love. It has been a fight and a run. I ran and it found me. Surprise!

But it was just a discovery. I wont talk about it much on here still because, long story make my life into a movie type situation. Just know love will sneak up on you, make you emotional, make you grow but most importantly make you learn. My heart chakra is open!

5.Blog Purpose

This blog has changed tremendously in 5 years. I have made this platform my career. When I started I had no idea I would be this far along in my career and kept it going. I was looking for another corporate tech job in social media, and couldn’t find one. I started to freelance for a magazine which motivated me to think I could start generating my own income on this platform. It took a year when I started to write for this blog, and this I continue. This platform is not just a “blog” anymore its a platform. Its my lifestyle platform where I am so grateful I have engaging readers that care about what I say and what I do.

With that comes a responsibility so I am going to revamp come the beginning of the year. I am still a lifestyle platform, where you can depend on travel, food, pop culture, products and more. Holistic wellness will be the strength of my 2018 and contination of my 5th year. Who knew that when I named my brand “Kiwi The Beauty”, that I will mean it. Holistic beauty tips are on the way guys please stay tuned for that. I am really excited to share that. I feel holistic beauty and lifestyle is my true purpose.

Along with that I want to not just blog with pretty pictures, celebs and wanderlust…maybe I will go back to opening up just a little bit more. Aren’t you all tired of picture perfect bloggers? Does everything have to be so editoral? I am a blogger, but I am a journalist, but I am also a realist. Let get real, with a purpose. Expect more of this in year five.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Well this was different. I always thought when I hit the 5 year milestone it would be som extravagent feat. I am just excited I made it to year FIVE! Some people give up on many of their hobbies and dont complete goals that last five years. I have consistently been running my own brand for five years straight. I can’t believe it! Since I took this month off of blogging, it was a strong form of reflection. What are my real goals for this platform and how will I make a difference for the next five years? By always making sure I share in a journalistic but realistic tone whatever I am reviewing – that it is with integrity and truly something to help someone with in the future. Anything I share on this site, it is for you to benefit in someway shape or form.

More sharing, less gloating. More moments, less staged experiences. You all know what I am talking about. Social media can make people really over exaggerate their lives. I am here to tell you, this platform will not be about overexaggeration ever. I hope it inspires and also teach me something. Don’t be afraid to communicate with me back in the comments or on my social media platforms something cool too! This isnt a one way street.

Thank you for sharing with me my moments of review of 2017 and the blogiversary of my site. My heart is happy. See you all in the New Year!

Happy 5 Year Blogiversary to Me!
