WHERE TO EAT IN BOCAS DEL TORO | MINI FOODIE GUIDE Monday 17 July, 2017

I am back from my 3 week trip to Panama and I spent a while in Bocas Del Toro the island. With my time there, of course you all know I had to eat and experience the food there. It’s an island with Caribbean flair, but surprisingly they have some cute trendy spots too that would intrigue your tastebuds. Bocas is a growing tourist island so lots of different types of food and drink spots are arriving here. Of course I didn’t get a chance to highlight all on the island but the ones mentioned are a few of my favorites that I was a repeat custom of as well.

HOUSE ACROSS FROM HABLA YA

This place I have to mention first because it was literally right across the street from my school. I don’t think it had a former name, just know it is in a cute little yellow and white picket fenced house. It is homemade meals to select made with love for only $4. Yes I said $4 for a chicken/pollo plate. The Pollo plate includes: Chicken, rice & beans, plantains and veggies. They also serve breakfast. I ate here multiple times a week!

LA BUGA

This was a fun little spot. A little more of a western eats but it was great. I would come here often during the week for Happy Hour. You can’t beat from 5-7 2 for $7 specialty cocktail drinks! I also loved the colorful ambiance as it was decorated with a tropical modern vibe.

HUNGRY MONKEY

I love the name of the place. Don’t ask me where the monkey part come from because there are no monkey’s in site. Another western foodie vibe as they specialize in tacos and subs but they are so good. Again loving the decor and vibe of this spot. It gives you instant surfer vibes, because it is a surfer school. In fact before it was a restaurant it was the first Bocas Surfer School on the island. They still teach lessons but now you can dine here too!

SWEET LOVE TEA SHOP

Literally this was one of my favorite spots to chill. The ambiance is such as great vibe. It is more of a coffee shop so I did come in here to do some work from time to time, but I love getting Crepes + Juice here.  They are known for their crepes that they make fresh and to order.

BOCAS LICK IT

This spot is so fun. I love a great pop place but this is Bocas famous pops called Bocas Lick It. Homemade fresh fruit pops in a cute little shop. The show is quirky and bright colored decorated! Now I will say this spot doesn’t have consistent shop opening hours or days, but good new – Hungry Money and La Buga sells them daily!

BOCAS BLEND IT

I loved this place since the moment I laid eyes on it. It’s a juice + smoothie bus! The bus catches your attention immediately as it is decorated in a “groovy” way. You can make your own juice or smoothie combo here. Cool part. The owners are from Atlanta (a piece of home in Bocas).

If you like this post or thinking about traveling to Bocas Del Toro soon, please pin this for later!
