[NBC TAKEN] GAIUS CHARLES WEEKLY CHAT | Leah Monday 24 April, 2017

Another great chat with Gaius Charles of NBC’s Taken. I hope these chats are inspiring you to check out the show. Its goes deeper than the Taken movie trilogy goes into, more development beyond Bryan Mills character. The show continues to build outside the Mills storyline to make it a full story for the series. This episode “Leah” we see yet another story to unfold and it deals with a Mossad agent with early onset Alzheimer’s.

Taken - Season 1

Taken - Season 1

This episode as explained in the title is more about “Leah’, so much that even Bryan Mills character is a little toned down. Did he learn his lesson is last week episode of Solo? I think so!!

Taken - Season 1

Gaius also brought to our attention how this episode focuses more on Christina’s character. Actually this episode has high emphasizes on both Leah and Christina, as they are both vets in this industry with a lot in common who might share a similar fate. It showcases the seriousness of having Alzheimer’s in this industry and what it can do for one’s career detrimentally, and it makes us all wonder would this happen in real life?  Christina & Leah both have job where it causes them to adopt masculine qualities with lack of emotion most of the time, but the layers of Taken continue to showcase that these are still WOMEN with emotional needs and even vulnerabilities that doesn’t make them weak, but human and even more feminine because of it.

Gaius shared he got a lot of tweets from fans saying it was amazing to see women on the show kick butt and show their particular set of physical skills. We do not see too many female characters show this kind of skill on action shows often and the fan made sure to show appreciation of it in this episode.

Taken - Season 1

Again this episode didn’t have a lot of John’s (Gauis Charles) character in it, because it did focus on Leah character. What Gaius wanted to share about this episode is how the dynamic of Taken kind of takes a spin on a Spy Vs Spy concept. Once again it’s also another way the Taken series humanizes these agents. Gaius explains usually in these type of action packed shows we always see these agents as one dimensional characters, but they are strong and tough people with vulnerabilities.

Taken keeps getting better with every episode and I promise it is more than just an action-flick series. Its a true storyline that I am getting intrigued with. Thanks Gaius for chatting with me every week and if you have any question for him or the show please comment below!
