Where To Eat in Nashville | The Sutler Saloon (w/Speakeasy) Monday 13 March, 2017

So before leaving Nashville we had to find a good foodie spot in the city. My friends and I found an awesome spot with some great southern dishes called The Sutler. The Sutler is a country saloon themed based spot that will definitely give you a feel of Nashville and the Music City ambiance.  the-sutler-nashville-food-review-1

DSC_0267 The Sutler is more than just a restaurant as we learned. The historic Sutler was originally opened in 1976 by country radio personality Johnny Potts. Part venue, part restaurant, and part dive bar, the Sutler was a social hub for locals and the Nashville music community, as well as a waypoint for travelers and touring acts from far and wide.Since it was reopened and reimagined in 2014 by restaurateur Austin Ray and the building’s developer and restorer, Joe Parkes Jr. The Sutler has quickly become part of Nashville’s current music scene. The Sutler’s stage has played host to a variety of local and national acts, including an appearance on the hit TV show Nashville.

So as stated their food is definitely southern comfort food. So delicious and filling. All of the selections had it’s own Nashville flair or spin to it which made it even more unique.

Green Chile Chicken Mac & Cheese

This is a meal in itself. Seriously people order this as their entree. Its definitely loaded Mac & Cheese with all the works. My friends and I were craving mac & cheese this entire trip so this definitely hit this spot! Makes me want to go home and add toppings like this to my next M&C creation. My friends and I shared this.

Smoked Brisket Nachos | quesos, fresno chile, jalapeno, pico, lettuce, cilantro and sour cream

This was an appetizer that we shared with each other as well. I dont think I ever had smoked brisket on my nachos before. It was really good and again great complimentary toppings to go with it.

Chicken & Waffles | cheddar scallion cornbread waffle, buttermilk fried chicken and cinnamon bourbon syrup

Now I am a big Chicken and Waffle fan! If I see Chicken and Waffles on the menu, more than likey I will get it for brunch. We I never had it like this before. The cheddar scallion cornbread waffle is nothing like I ever had before. It was so savory and went beyond just a regular waffle. I loved the scallions being incorporated into the waffle, I felt it took the taste experience up a notch. I would definitely recommend trying this for yourself it was so good.

The Slingshot | gordon’s gin, orange bitters, lemons and sweet vermouth

The Sutler is more than a restaurant as I stated before. Outside of their concerts, they also have a secret downstairs area that leads to a Speakeasy.

The downstairs ceiling that leads to the speakeasy is lined with actual cowboy boots.

When you open the door to the Speakeasy its a cute little lounge area. More bars, lounge chairs and a real upscale vibe. People also reserve this space for private parties and a few music  videos were shot down here.

Across the hall from the Speakeasy but its own seperate entity from the Sutler is Melrose Billard Parlor. This  has been around since the early 40s which is a combo of a divebar and a pool area.

This was a very trendy spot in the 40s but of course this has been renovated as well. They still kept a bit of history around this area for an authentic vintage feel. This is pretty historical too as there was a time where they taught women how to play pool and even had leagues. Every Tuesday is also FREE POOL.

Overall The Sutler was a great stop before we headed back to Atlanta. We really enjoyed the food, hospitality, history and the country bar ambiance. We missed the Sunday Bluegrass Brunch but I heard this is a very popular place for brunch if you are ever in town.
