Disney World to Host HBCU Week College Fair: A Must-Attend Event for America’s High School Students Thursday 01 August, 2024

The HBCU Week Foundation is returning to Walt Disney World Resort for its college fair, marking the second time this event is hosted at the iconic location and reinforcing Disney’s commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

As a nonprofit organization, the HBCU Week Foundation aims to inspire high school students to pursue education at HBCUs, provides scholarship opportunities for their studies, and creates a pathway for employment from college to corporate careers. This year’s event will take place over two days on October 23-24 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which last hosted the fair in 2022.

The event will include a reception alongside a dynamic college fair, expected to attract nearly 8,000 high school students from across the Southeast and beyond, making it one of the largest gatherings in the foundation’s history. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with over 40 representatives from HBCUs, some of whom will offer on-the-spot admissions and award four-year scholarships totaling millions of dollars.

The magic of Disney will be woven throughout the event, featuring appearances by beloved Disney characters, live entertainment, music, and surprise moments that can only happen at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

The 2022 event at Walt Disney World set records with over 8,000 attendees and more than $11 million in scholarships awarded.

In a continued effort to bolster support for HBCUs, the HBCU Week Foundation has announced a new $1 million grant. This funding will enhance the foundation’s initiatives to increase HBCU enrollment, provide academic scholarships, and help students navigate the transition from university life to successful professional careers.
