{Food Review} The Capital Grille #HappilyEating Cocktail Time Friday 01 April, 2016
Food review time! I think I am going to change my name everyone. I am going to go from Kiwi the Beauty to Kiwi the Foodie, because I am becoming quite the food critic and enjoy yet another great experience! Cheers to that right? Speaking of cheers, it was a cocktail time with one of my favorite Atlanta blogger friends Milla of Happliy Eating who hosted her first event at The Capital Grille in Dunwoody,GA.
Milla hosted her first event at The Capital Grille for an intimate blogger/influencer event for a happy hour theme. She has a blog at HappilyEating.com where she knows all the hotspot to eat locally and even traveling. We traveled together last summer on a foodie trip here and she is just a fun good, so happy to be apart of her first Food Event.
We all started off with a round of drink selections. The Stoli Doli is Capital Grille’s signature and most famous drink since the beginning of their franchise. Served in a cute miniature martini glass and smooth to the taste. My favorite drink selection was the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar as I am a blackberry fruit fan and it was fresh with a sweet spring taste.
STOLI DOLI
The Capital Grille Signature Martini. Stolichnaya Vodka infused with fresh pineapple, chilled and served straight up. Since 1990.
BLACKBERRY BOURBON SIDECAR
Woodford Reserve handcrafted in small batches with blackberries, Cointreau, lemon juice and fresh thyme.
GRAPEFRUIT BUCK
Absolut Ruby Red with a splash of elderflower cordial, ginger beer and fresh squeezed lime juice. Topped with Campari and garnished with a fresh ruby red grapefruit wedge.
MOJITO DE UVAS
Bacardi Light Rum, fresh squeezed lime juice, cane sugar syrup, fresh mint and green grapes, topped with chilled Champagne. Garnished with fresh mint.
While we sipped our cocktails we did have an array of appetizers. Pan-Fried Calamari w/hot cherry peppers, Cast Iron Garlic Shrimp with Olive Oil Crostini, Parmesan Truffle Fries made with freshly grated cheese and white truffle oil,
Main course was served, and what The Capital Grille is known for is their array of cut steaks. I personally chose a 10 oz Filet Mignon for my meal for the evening paired with roasted Brussels sprouts. I will be honest I haven’t treated myself to a Filet Mignon steak in a very long time and I am so happy I selected this. It was so rich in flavor and I got my cooked well done. Other steak selections: DRY AGED NY STRIP – 14 OZ, SLICED FILET MIGNON WITH CIPOLLINI ONIONS AND WILD MUSHROOMS, DRY AGED PORTERHOUSE STEAK – 24 OZ, BONE-IN RIBEYE – 22 OZ, and PORCINI RUBBED BONE-IN RIBEYE WITH 15-YEAR AGED BALSAMIC.
After enjoying my filet minon, myself and the influencers had our pick of dessert. The three selections were of The Capital Grille Cheesecake, The Classic Creme Brulee and the Flourless Chocolate Espresso cake. Let me tell you all three were winners! Yes all three! If you are going to make me choose I would highly recommend the The Capital Grille Cheesecake…so rich and creamy. It was brulee style which I never had before, so it’s crispy at the top and the you get this amazing decadent taste of the cheesecake with each bite. I promise I am coming back and ordering the cheesecake on each of my next visits. High quality cheesecake!
THE CAPITAL GRILLE CHEESECAKE
Brûlée Style with Fresh Berries
CLASSIC CRÈME BRÛLÉE
with Seasonal Berries
FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO CAKE
with Cocoa Powder and Fresh Raspberries
To finish our amazing full meal we ended the tasting with cappuccino and coffee. I had the cappuccino and it was served with a rock candy sugar stick to mix in the drink. I didn’t realize you could do this as it dissolves into your cappuccino smoothly and thanks the drink up a notch. It was cute and classy at the same time.
Thanks to The Capital Grille (Dunwoody-Atlanta location) + HappilyEating.com come for the amazing evening. I will be back for happy hours and it would be excellent for a romantic evening in the city. Great food and drink selections and lovely atmosphere. I will be returning soon!
