Just imagine your favorite video game background characters came to life without anyone controlling its actions. Like a Toy Story but video game edition is the best way I can describe it!

Ryan Reynolds shows us the life of a “non-playable characters,” aka NPCs. If you’ve played an RPG (Role-Playing Game; think Grand Theft Auto), then you know them as the generic everyday folks you see walking down the street, background players, and basically the “extras’ of any video game. They are also the repetitive background people repeating phrases such as “Hey, watch it!” What if these NPCs began to have souls and question their existence!

When a bank teller discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game, he decides to become the hero of his own story — one that he can rewrite himself. In a world where there’s no limits, he’s determined to save the day his way before it’s too late, and maybe find a little romance with the coder who conceived him.

Review: First and foremost whomever was in charge of casting Ryan Reynolds as the star of FREE GUY, thank you! Thank you because he was just beautiful to look at. I couldn’t stop looking at him, he was perfect! Of course he was perfect because he plays Guy a NPC in the video game Free City in this film. This movie is definitely for any of all gamers of all ages!

Listen I am a 90s kid…so games exploded tremendously in my era, but it is a little bit more different today. Everything is computer and internet connected and we are all connected more than every to play worldworld with millions of people connected with you via a game. I am personally not a big gamer anymore, but when I was in that world I was a Simmer! Yes a master creator in the EA Sims…so my Sim heart started to thrive and come alive watching this film

Ryan Reynolds as Guy (a “non-playable character”) inside Free City doesn’t even  know he is computerized. His simplistic catchphrase? “Don’t have a good day — have a great day!” keeps Guy binded to his repetitive role until the next day, it starts over. Its called “Free City” but everyone is a virtual prison of this “Fantasy” world until Guy snaps out of it. Speaking of fantasy, the daily alarm clock Guy plays of Mariah Carey, “Fantasy” which perfectly ties in this entire movie so well.

I am not going to give the film away, but Guy starts questioning his existence and way of daily life when he meets a feminine character who is a Controlled Player. He goes on a quest to find his soul and even experience being lovestrucked all because of Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer). Guy steals a pair of player sunglasses and starts to take his digital life into his own hands and he becomes a viral virtual hero with his way of playing his role without harming any of the bad guys. So its truly a tale of Good Guys finally finish first with a gamer twist! I also loved the bromance between Lil Rel and Ryan. I would love a spinoff movie just with them now it was cute!

Loved it loved it. If it wasn’t for the pandemic I am sure this would of been a summer blockbuster instantly! It has a lot of features and guest and fun surprises gamers everywhere will be cheering throughout the film!
