A CHRISTMAS STORY POP-UP | HAMPTON AND HUDSON BO-LING CHOP SUEY PALACE SPEAKEASY Friday 20 December, 2019
Who loves A Christmas Story? Its one of my favorite Christmas traditions that I have to watch every years. I was happy to discover in Atlanta that there are a few holiday pop-up spots dedicated to this famous film. I’ve been to speakeasy bars around town, but never a speakeasy styled restaurant!
The upstairs portion of Hampton + Hudson is an entirely different restaurant setting and theme that is in dedication to Bo Ling’s Chop Suey Palace, like the restaurant in A Christmas Story.
Immerse yourself in Bo Ling Chop Suey Palace out of the Holiday Christmas Classic “A Christmas Story”.
You can’t have a Christmas Story without the infamous Leg Lamp. It is part of the festive asian decor but this sealed the deal as A Christmas Story tribute themed restaurant.
A CHRISTMAS STORY COCKTAILS
One of the memorable parts of this film is that Ralphie wanted to figure out the special code from the Ovaltine box. When he listened to the radio for the codes…the message read, “Drink More Ovaltine”. It was an ad! Well it went from an ad to an adult drink here! We will be drinking our Ovaltine!
Now this drink was super cute. This is the “Fragilee” drink in honor of the leg lamp, but it isnt in the shape of the lamp. I guess it got its “fragile” name because it comes in a porcelain cup.
THEMED MENU
I am originally from NYC and everyone knows that New York has the best Chinese food outside of China itself. Chinatown in NYC has its own vibe and the best Chinese food ever, that when you go anywhere else you are halfway settling. I never thought it was possible for Atlanta to have a restaurant that would have anything even close to Chinatown cuisine. Well I got it and I was super impressed! The menu is amazing, the price is very affordable like a Chinatown restaurant and the taste just mindblowing!
Look I can gush about this whole menu, but I will be back on Christmas Day (yes they will be open) just to get an egg roll! The egg roll was the best eggroll I ever having in my life! In my life…not an exaggeration. It makes it better because its veggie filled!
Guess who will be back Christmas Day? I will! Look its already tradition for me to watch it, so why not watch it in a themed spot. I already stated I am coming back for the egg rolls alone. So if you want something fun to do at dinnertime during Christmas in Atlanta, recreate your own A Christmas Story holiday dinner in a Chinese style restaurant too!
Are you a fan of A Christmas Story Movie? Whats your favorite line or part of the movie?
Oh my gosh, this is the best. I would SO good! And the food looks fabulous.

I love the holiday themed drinks and the place overall! What a cool place to eat and enjoy some festivities!
Now this kind of place is perfect for me and my family! I can almost taste the food, and what a great vibe this place has.

It will be this, “One of the memorable parts of this film is that Ralphie wanted to figure out the special code from the Ovaltine box. When he listened to the radio for the codes…the message read, “Drink More Ovaltine”. It was an ad! Well it went from an ad to an adult drink here! We will be drinking our Ovaltine”! It cracked me up, actually.
Just THIS: “I am originally from NYC and everyone knows that New York has the best Chinese food outside of China itself. Chinatown in NYC has its own vibe and the best Chinese food ever, that when you go anywhere else you are halfway settling.”
I am definitely going to have to check this place out when I get up there, and I am going to tell my Auntie and them to check it out NOW!
