How to Have an Awesome Girls Trip On Carnival Cruise Wednesday 18 October, 2017
When was the last time you had a girls trip? The Girl’s Trip movie was very popular so I am sure we are going to see even more organized trip with friends in the future, but have you planned a trip on a cruise? A Girls Trip on a cruise is so much fun and I brought one of my best friends, Lexi, with me on my 3rd Carnival Trip experience. This was my second year doing press as a Carnival Partner so this was our perfect annual Girl’s Trip experience.
Lexi and I decided last year we were going to have annual trip together. Ironically we planned our cruise this year at the exact same time we went to Cuba last year. So we made it official, around Mid-Sept this is out allotted trip. This was Lexi’s first time on a cruise and it was perfect as we both got to explore Carnival’s newest ship, Carnival Vista. I will go into more details about Carnival Vista in the next post. I think so many people under estimate how fun a cruise can be with a girlfriend. Many people think its more of a spousal trip or family experience, but no take your best friend(s) on a cruise! Here are some ideas on how to have an awesome Girl’s Trip on Carnival Cruise!
Have a Girls Trip Name
As stated earlier Lexi and I have an annual Girl’s Trip but we name them. We even came up with a hashtag for it as we call our trips “Twinkie Trips”. Ok where did we get that from? Well Lexi and I call each other Twinkies, because we are the color of the Twinkie snack (lol) and we take trips so boom. #TwinkieTrip was born last year. If you and your girlfriend(s) plan trips often name then and give it a fun hashtag!
Take Plenty Of Selfies
I’m sure this tip is a no brainer but make sure you guys take lots of selfies. I know we are currently in an era where everyone is having their own photoshoots everywhere, but a good selfie is always fun. Take them every chance you get with each other.
Have Other People Take Your Photos Too
I will admit, Lexi and I didn’t do this one as much. We took lots of selfies but not many where we had people take pictures of us. I guess we were spoiled by Carnival as they took so many photos of us that we didn’t worry about it (see below), but on land and on the boat do not be afraid to ask people to take photos of the both of you. Especially when it’s just two of you guys because I know its mostly taking pictures of each other or selfies. But there are so many opps to take together, don’t forget to just ask people to capture you both!
Do Something New On Land
So there are plenty of things to do off the ship when you get on land. One of Lexi’s ideas was to make sure she got authentic Jamaican food from Jamaica. Heire is the kicker, this girl is Jamaican! She is more American, but her family roots are in Jamaica. She never really got to be a tourist in her own country so she was excited to get real Jamaica food from her native country outside of her mommas cooking. I told her that is so weird because she can get Jamaica food any time at home, but she had an extreme urge to get some in Ochos Rios, our first land stop.
We went to a restaurant and she was so disappointed, because her mom could do it better (lol). It was to commercialized for her taste. But there were so many local street cooks she found a jerk chicken vendor and she said it was amazing, even better than her moms! So make sure you have a goal to try something new on land to relinquish in the memories and experience.
Participate in Many Carnival Times Events
Carnival makes sure while on the ship, there is plenty to do from sun up to sun down. There is a schedule call the Carnival Times where you can literally look hour by hour on whats going on. There are plenty of themed events and shows, mostly hosted by your Carnvial Cruise Director to have a lot of fun. One of our favorite nights was 80s Rock and Glow Party!
Take Naps
I warned Lexi of this important step. The naps are important. Very important. So much to do on land and on the ship you will get tired! I could not stress enough to take naps or you will be lights out by 10pm. Lexi understood after a while so one of our favorite things to do on our downtime was to NAP! In our room or on the Adult Only Serenity Deck lounge area.
Dress to the Nines On Captains/Formal Night
One of my favorite nights on the ship is Formal Night aka Captains Night. Everyone gets dressed up and glammed for an awesome dinner, to thank the Captain and to take awesome glamour shots. You will see below the shots Lexi and I took together professionally, but to me its the time of year I do get dressed up to this extent. Great reason to wear a ball gown!
Have an Inside Joke
So Lexi and I created an inside joke on the ship. Every time it was time for us to do our Carnival Cruise photos, the photographer would make us do back to back poses. At first it was ok, but then we would tell the photographer “Let me guess, back to back”? I don’t know what it was, maybe because it was just two of us that like an easy go to pose. It was hilarious and after a while we started to protest the back to back poses, but we got plenty of them. Now when we go out, we are going to start asking people to take our picture…BACK TO BACK!
Take All The Photos Opps
We were labeled Beyonce + Rihanna as soon as we got on the ship!
Carnival is really great on having a lot of professionl photographers around the boat to take great memories on and stepping off the ship. Remember I said earlier I regret not taking as many on my own with Lexi and I? Well its because Carnival was taking all of our shots together! I think with my blonde hair too it was easy to spot us and we barely even had to ask. Also Lexi and I love taking pictures in general so when we spotted a cool photographer backdrop we took the opportunity. Carnival now has it to where you can see all the photos you took on their app and get digital downloads of your images.
Lexi had a blast on her first Carnival Cruise. This was an awesome girl’s trip. Look you can’t beat an all inclusive trip that can take you to multiple countries within a week! It was so much to do within a weeks worth of time. Lots of memories made. I highly recommend sailing on the Carnival Vista, which is one of the brand’s newest ship! Learn more on the blog here. As a long time Carnival Cruise use, I would say that the best way to have an awesome girls trip on Carnival Cruise is to USE Carnival Cruise! LOVE those guys!
I don’t know much about girls trips (obviously) but I DO know a lot about Carnival Cruise lines. We’ve been on several cruise trips, and ALWAYS use Carnival Cruise.

I have sailed with Carnival quite a few times and always had a fantastic experience! With my mom turning sixty in just a few months, I think a girl’s cruise would be the perfect way to celebrate.
Oh wow. You sure had loads of fun on the cruise! I don’t get to travel alone or with my girlfriends. I am always with my family. However, that doesn’t mean that having kids along will spoil the fun. Thanks for these tips. We’ll try and do those next time we take a cruise.

I have never taken a cruise and the closest thing I have to this are the times I went away with my sisters. The cruise does look great and I will take one someday.

Shh, don’t tell anyone but I am a Cruise Virgin. I have never tried an ocean cruise before. Do they ask or just automatically take pictures of people on the ship?
And if you have cruised with other lines, do all cruises do that?
I ask but I hate being in pictures. I love taking them, just prefer being behind the camera, not in front of it.
There are so many things I have always wondered about. I fly because I like the idea of getting to a destination faster, and then being able to explore it fully. I am always afraid that I would get wrapped up in something and a boat would leave me behind! 🙂

You should totally try a cruise. I can only speak for Carnival, but Carnival does an amazing job of taking multiple shots of you on the boat. I didn’t even post all of the photos myself and my friend took while sailing. Yes flying to a destination is fun, but what make cruises fun and unique is that you can go to several different counties within a short amount of time. You get over 8+ hours on any land spot and its all about time management, you shouldn’t get left. Thats why you travel with a good buddy who will help you keep good time. Try it out and read some of my other cruise postings too to inspire you!
This makes me miss my girlfriends! It would be so nice to be able to go on a cruise and just have fun with them! It’s definitely a lovely choice for a trip with the girls.
