‘Bel-Air’ Premiere Will Touchdown Super Bowl Sunday On Peacock Wednesday 12 January, 2022

It’s been reboot nation with 90s shows and movies right? The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, of the best 90s sitcoms of all time, isn’t getting a reboot…it’s getting re-imagined into a drama series called Bel-Air!

Bel-Air will premiere on Peacock on Super Bowl Sunday (February 13, 2022) with the first three episodes at launch and new episodes released weekly.

Super Bowl LVI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA and will be presented live beginning at 1 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock and Telemundo.

BEL-AIR SYNOPSIS

Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

Executive produced by Will Smith, and inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral trailer that reimagined the iconic, culture-defining ‘90s sitcom, Bel-Air takes a fresh and raw approach to this world of swagger, style, and aspiration, while exploring Will’s complex journey through a current lens. The new series features an ensemble cast that introduces Jabari Banks as Will and a creative team that includes Cooper, who serves as director, co-writer, and executive producer, and co-showrunners and executive producers T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson.

Hmmm…I’m honestly not sure I’ll be watching this reimagining. It seems to be so much the trend right now doesn’t it?

  • Alice Mola says:

I am SO happy to see Coco Jones in this lineup, I’ve been hoping to see her in more shows/movies and this is the best news! Thanks for sharing.

  • Alita Pacio says:

  • briannemanzb says:

The whole cast is new to me but I’m so excited to discover new actors and actresses. Im so excited to watch this

  • Oh wow I had no idea about this – I remember seeing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air on TV when I was very young, but I was too young to watch it. I will have to keep an eye out for the premiere.

  • Rhian Westbury says:

I need to see this cast and watch the trailer. I think it’s going to be so important to not do a direct comparison to the original and treat it as its own thing x

  • I grew up with The prince of Bel_Air. I genuinely don’t know how I feel about the reboot. I am afraid of watching it and “ruining” my nostalgic memories but never say never…..

  • Jennifer Prince says:

Ha! I saw the commercial for this, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m glad Will Smith is involved as I think that will help it be a success!

  • Christine says:

When I saw the title, I was definitely curious. But as I read, I don’t think I would watch this. The only way I would is if Will Smith was in it. I see he is the Executive Producer, but I don’t think that would be enough.

  • Thena Franssen says:

Oh, I’m excited to watch this! I think it’ll be great!

  • I enjoyed the original series and I cannot wait to see this one.

  • Jasmine Martin says:

So I am honestly undecided on if I am actually going to check this out. I personally am not a fan of remakes. I feel like they should just make something new or like if they did a spin off where they showed Will and Lisa being parents instead, I’d be interested in that.

  • Laura says:

This is interesting! I loved this show. I do think that remakes are better than trying to carry on or bring the old cast back!

  • Kira says:

Oh I loved the fresh Prince!! This is exciting!!!
