About the Show
Coming from a famous Memphis family known for taking on injustice, brilliant lawyer Sydney Strait used to work at her father Elijah’s (Jimmy Smits) celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to him for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of her loss, hoping to reconnect with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his firm. She agrees because despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world… if they can ever get along.
Bluff City Law is a modern legal drama series with an amazing diverse cast. What makes this show different from other legal drama series that it takes place in Memphis, Tennessee where people wouldn’t normally associate successful lawyers thriving in the country.
Another perk of the show, this is a show that will give you faith in the legal system. The lawyers who are of course the centers and stars of the shows are focus to bring actual justice and not just drama. This show takes real life cases in America and spun them into this series to show positive outcomes of civil suits that are brought to the justice that it deserves. With learning this, it was exciting to chat with Michael Luwoye about more of his role as a strong reoccurring character on Bluff City Law over lunch!
Michael first burst on the scene as Alexander Hamilton in Broadway’s “Hamilton” and his diverse roles include in Netflix’s “She’s Gotta Have it,” SYFY’s “The Magicians,” Disney’s Junior’s “The Lion Guard,” Fox’s “The Gifted” and now a star making turn as Anthony Little in NBC’s “Bluff City Law.”

It was great interviewing Michael Luwoye over lunch. He is very humble passionate when he speaks! Every questioned asked he answered with such detailed and mindfulness. For someone who has only been acting since 2013, he is surely leaving a powerful mark in the industry!

I haven’t watched it yet, but I tend to wait for a season or two to launch on Netflix and then do a full marathon. I’ve been a fan of Jimmy Smits for years, so that is a good sign!
