CRAZY RICH ASIANS MOVIE SCREENING AND AFTER PARTY IN ATLANTA Friday 03 August, 2018
Atlanta had an amazing turn out for the Crazy Rich Asians press in Atlanta for the film. The movie, which is the adaptation of the novel with the same hosted a red carpet, screening and after party to commemorate the upcoming film.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS co-stars Awkwfina (OCEAN’S 8), Nico Santos (NBC’s Superstore) and Ronny Chieng (Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah) joined Atlanta’s elite for a special black carpet advance screening of the film at Regal Atlantic Station. Afterwards they hosted an exclusive after-party at Twelve Hotel with invited press and VIPs.

SYNOPSIS
Crazy Rich Asians (film) American romantic comedy-drama film based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same name. Produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, it is directed by Jon M. Chu. The film stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Nico Santos, Ken Jeong, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh, and follows a young Asian American woman who meets her boyfriend’s parents only to find out they’re one of the richest families in Singapore.

Awkwafina explains how she transitioned from rapping into now acting this year in Oceans 8 and now Crazy Rich Asians.
Awkwafina: I never thought I would act let alone do movies. I heard about this role, before I was even considered for this audition, but I knew this would be a cool movie. When the audition came, I don’t even think the casting people knew if they knew they wanted me. But I showed up, I did my best, and two weeks later before we were sent to Singapore I found out I got the role!
Awkwafina opens up on what this film will mean to her and the Asian community.
Awkwafina:I needed a film like this growing up. This movie goes beyond the Asian community, its a huge Hollywood theatrical release with an all minority cast and we want to make a big impression on the box office. I feel like we are opening up a movement in Hollywood that tells other stories like this more often.
I interviewed Nico and asked him what is one of the most exciting things about being apart of Crazy Rich Asians?
Nico:Its an all Asian cast, there hasnt been a movie in 25 years where there was an All Asian-American cast. People are really yearning for stories from people of color such as movies like Get Out and Black Panther and Girl’s Trip that has done tremendous in the box office which is opening up the doors for other stories to be told. I hope that this film open doors for other Asian stories to be told and even in the LGBT community, so this is what made me excited to be apart of this film.
My thoughts on Crazy Rich Asians: This movie was beautifully done. Very lavish and very rich of course. It was like an Asian Great Gasby, filled with glam and grace and abundance! It is a love-comedy. I laughed, I got mad, I got sad so it can be an array of emotions watching this. It’s not your typical rich man poor girl love story. The heart of this story relies in family and traditional ties. I had no idea that there was a such a disconnect between Asians and Asian-Americans and how it effects them with cultural differences.
But between the problems that arises with the cultural differences and the Mother from Hell, this move was just simply gorgeous. Let me tell you, there is a wedding scene that I am still dropping my jaw over. It was a 40 million dollar wedding! This movie just made me want to befriend some crazy rich friends…this was amazing. I highly recommend this movie, go get inspired to try to live your best life. I have to find out a way to get crazy rich!
AFTER PARTY
There was a cute Crazy Rich Asian VIP party right after the screening. We got chauferred crazy rich style in a charter limo bus to the party where we mixed and mingled again with Awkwafina, Ronny and Nico. It was cute check out the photos below!

I am super excited to see Crazy Rich Asians. I saw the trailer about a month ago and have been wanting to see it since. I’m going to make a date with my girlfriends for girls night out and this is on the top of my list!
For some reason, I didn’t realize this was a book. (Clearly I’m living under a rock.) But I keep hearing about the movie and the trailer looks excellent!
This looks SOOOOO good, can’t wait to see it!! I married a guy from Japan, but didn’t have any of the issues she faced in the trailer haha. Now I gotta see if there’s a release party here in NYC I can get to haha!!
