Do What Makes You Feel Good At Any Age! Friday 14 September, 2018
You deserve to look and feel great at any age. This means you should unapologetically make time to treat yourself because, as cliché as it may sound, you must love yourself first, and everything else will fall in line. Life is too short to deprive yourself of much-needed “me-time!” Doing something indulgent can have positive effects on your mental health and provide many other benefits. In this post, I’ll talk about things you can do for yourself to boost your confidence and your mood at different stages of your life.
Your 20s
You’re most likely finally living on your own. It can be scary and overwhelming at times not having your mom and dad around to do your laundry or check your oil. This is often the time that you realize just how much your parents do.
Balancing chores, work, school, and friends can be tough, so it is important to get organized and make schedules. Writing things down and allotting time to certain tasks—including meetings, errands, and even drinking water—will help you gain a little extra time for yourself. I recommend using this free time to go to the gym or take a walk. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which trigger a positive feeling in the body.
Another thing I recommend doing is making time for dinner. No, not just takeout. Give yourself about 45 minutes or more to cook and eat something healthy and fulfilling. This practice of cooking your own food and sitting down at the table (not the couch) to eat it will help you be more mindful of what you’re putting in your body.
Your 30s
Many women begin to have children in their 30s—that means sleepless nights and less-than-glamorous mommy duties. As hard as it can be at this stage of life, it is extremely important to make time for yourself. A little pampering can do wonders.
Schedule a massage or a facial every so often. Little breaks like these can help you recharge more than you might think. Doing something nice for yourself is an easy way to hit your internal reset button and motivate you to keep a positive attitude during your hectic life.
Lack of sleep and generally not taking care of yourself not only can affect your health, but it also can affect the way you look. BOTOX® or other minimally invasive skin treatments can reverse those signs of premature aging and help you look your best even when you are running on empty.
Your 40s
By the time you are in your 40s, things have slowed down a bit. Most women are done, or at least close to being done, having children. That being said, I advise you to do things that make you feel youthful. 40 isn’t what it used to be! Take some time to travel, renovate a room in your house, or train for a marathon.
Since you’ll feel great, you should have the body and face to match. Laser skin treatments are an effective way to turn back the clock on your appearance, without needing surgery. After a short recovery time, your skin will look years younger.
If you are interested in getting rid of stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, liposuction can be a helpful solution. According to the board-certified plastic surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Center of the South, liposuction at their Atlanta, GA, practice is ideal for reducing fat in areas like the abdomen, back, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, face, neck, and upper arms.
Your 50s & Up
Now that you’re in your 50s, you probably already have your routines and habits set in stone. That doesn’t mean you can’t shake things up every once in a while. Spend time with your family, not only your children, but also your siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, too. Having Sunday night barbeques and movie nights are a great way to build lasting bonds and make important memories.
Additionally, just because you are getting older doesn’t mean you need to look like it! There are plenty of options to maintain youthful-looking skin, such as dermal fillers and PRP treatments. You don’t need to go overboard, but a visit to your local board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist every so often can go a long way.
The main takeaway is that no matter how busy or stressful your life gets, making a little time each day to do something for yourself will help you live a happier life.

Great tips… heading into my 40’s… looking forward to a little slow down
I’m in my 30’s, and it has not been my most glamorous decade. I hadn’t considered Botox but I can see why it would be a big boost in feeling like myself again.
I’m in my 50s and have never had a facial. I have oily skin which has kept me looking pretty young, I’ve never considered any skin treatments.
LOVE all the tips! Thank you for sharing.

I’m reaching my 30s and we have a two year old. My beauty regiment just went out the window and most days I look and feel like a hot mess!!!

I’m in my 20s and takeout is definitely tempting. But I have learned to be economical and make my own food on most days.
I can see these being helpful and encouraging tips to women to feel good no matter the time. The only thing that made me feel a little sad was the 50s and habits set in stone. I hope to keep changing I guess. I hope things don’t just become hardened.
Skin treatments are so relaxing! It’s never too early to start any of these tips in my opinion.
I’m in my 30s and I’m aging. Most people don’t realize it and think I look very young. It works out at the end of the day because I looked like a teen, and now I look like an older college aged student.
I have had every nip and tuck that is available. I have 2 tummy tucks (mini and full) liposuction 3 times, noninvasive fat removal as well and I think next year I am going to get somemore lipo. I am 47 and I dont want to be fat. I will never touch my face but the back and tummy can get all of the procedures.
So true. Balance at any age can be difficult but as you get older and prioritize it becomes easier. Enjoyed reading this!
I’m a approaching 40 and a whole body makeover is on my list. A tummy tuck first!
I just turned 40 and would have to disagree that liposuction is the way to go. I’ve changed the way I eat and exercise to get the same result, without the surgery.
Thank you for these tips! Close to my 30s and I know I need to start to seriously take care of my skin care.
It does get a little harder to maintain the figure as I age. I have stepped my workout game up though. I need to get on that regular massage and facial though!
It is so important to have time for ourselves as moms.
A tummy tuck and breast augmentation have been in The back of my mind for years. I think I need to take the plunge soon
I’m in my 40’s and I don’t feel like much is slowing down, in fact, much of my life is getting busier. Our 8-year-old is developing his own interests and friends so there’s a lot fo shuttling around to do.
I am about to embark on my last year of my 30’s. My body has been good to me, now focusing on being good to it. My black has not cracked and I am thankful. I am excited to see what 40 has for me.
These are all great tips that I am sure would make anyone feel good about themselves! I’ll have to remember these when I get there. Thanks for sharing!
I am almost in my 40s. It’s so crazy to think that 40 years have gone by!!
This is some really great advice for what you can do to make yourself feel incredible. At any age, you are in charge of the way that you feel!
Early 30s here and lovin’ life. It’s weird and crazy to think about how much can change between 20 and 30, but SOOOOO much does!
Love your suggestions! I’m 26 but am experiencing the sleepiness nights and spending my days taking care of my kids. I definately agree that in this stage we moves need to get some “me time” to stay sane!
As age increase, what’s in our brains and our experiences increase.. but yet.. the best part is, we still can stay and look young day by day.. great tips!
Being a dude I don’t have any beauty regimen as such other than eat anything but then burn it out by running. been helping me till now!
I love this post! Very empowering! Age is really just a number. Love all your tips in here!
Yes this is so true! Time for yourself is so necessary
This is so right !! No age to be happy and do what makes us happy !! Yay !!
I’m loving the honesty in this post. A lot of people try to tell you how not to do certain things or how you SHOULD do things by a certain age. It’s all about how you feel. We’re unique.
This is a great post. I believe that you are as young as you feel.
