FORD ESCAPING TO THE SOLAR ECLIPSE EXPERIENCE OF 2017 Monday 28 August, 2017
As you read in the previous post, I been roadtripping lately. I actually went on two road trips back to back and it was a great opportunity to test out the 2017 Ford Escape. My Augusta trip to visit the Partridge Inn was planned, but the Solar Eclipse totality day roadtrip was sur of the moment. I will get into more eclipse details later, so lets chat about Augusta.
I did a whole post on my trip to Augusta,Ga to visit The Partridge Inn with my friend Marie. If you would love to read more about that trip and my experience check it out here.
The trip to Augusta with Marie was a 2 hour trip outside the city. Smooth ride in the Ford Escape. It was great practice because two days after this trip, I had a spontaneous trip to go to Cleveland,GA for the eclipse.
I was so tired a little after traveling to Augusta, I thought I was only going to be able to chat with you all about my experience driving in the Ford going there. Right after my trip, I got a call from my friend Rita exclaiming how she really wanted to go to Cleveland,GA to see the eclipse in its full totality. I was so stoked because I didn’t think I knew anyone who would truly go with me so I opted out of originally planning anything even though I had this Ford to do so (moreso out of tireness too). Rita talked me into doing the trip, and we made it a mission to go to Cleveland,GA to see the eclipse. She knew the perfect location and it was another 2 hour drive outside the city!
Can you believe Rita found the cutest place ever to watch the eclipse in Cleveland,GA? We went to the Babyland Cabbage Patch Mansion. I had no idea this place even existed but it was amazing. Although we were specifically here for the eclipse watching, we did a little tour where there was a plethora of webpage patch dolls nostalgia and plenty to buy. I am going to have to take another trip in itself just to buy a few. Kids these days have no idea that this was the it product like how iphones and tablets (maybe fidget spinners) are to kids today. Super cute place!
But the main reason for this trip is again to see the full effects of the eclipse. Rita and I originally planned this trip, but our energy actually attracted 3 more of my friends and they all met me and Rita there. More friends to share this experience with! I know people had all of these theories. Don’t look directly into the sun at this time without glasses (we had glasses and we didnt). Some people were telling pregnant women to stay in the house and I heard even some school closed because of it. When we got to Babyland, it was a lot of people prepared to watch with us. So much great energy and like-minded people who wanted to see this almost once in a lifetime experience. My friends and I shared glasses to see the eclipse coming towards the sun.
This was my genuine reaction to the solar eclipse experience. It was like nothing I have ever seen before! It was amazing. It’s a little undescribable. At 2:37pm the world did exactly what it was going to do The eclipse covered the sun in totality and myself, friends and everyone who was in our area saw the beauty of this experience. It went from light to dark. You literally could see the sun being blocked, but still radiated around it illuminating itself to look like a ring. I have never see anything like it. It was emotional and it was a great day to be alive and witness it! My friends and I did a prayer before it started to manifest our intentions and receive good energy on what was about to happen. Grateful we drove this 2 hour trip to see this, it was more than worth it! Check out the cool specs of the roadtrip car we rode with the 2017 Ford Escape!
2017 FORD ESCAPE SPECS
ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE
The new electric parking brake uses a motor at each rear caliper in place of a mechanically operated cable. It provides fingertip convenience at the touch of a switch (instead of having to pull and release a heavier lever) and frees up valuable space for storage.
CARGO CAPABILITY
The Escape can seat up to five. And its versatility lets you convert rear seat room to extra space — up to a maximum 68 cu. ft. — when transporting cargo takes priority. A versatile 60/40 split 2nd-row seat is standard in all models. Fold down either of the seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. Folding down both seat backs provides maximum cargo space of 68 cu. ft. with a flat load floor.
BEYOND CRUISE CONTROL
Available Adaptive Cruise Control lets you select the speed and distance you want to maintain from the vehicle in front of you. When traffic ahead slows down, you automatically slow down, and later resume the preset speed when traffic picks back up.10 Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support can alert you to a potential collision with the vehicle ahead. If you don’t react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase sensitivity, providing full responsiveness when you brake.
SAFETY
The 2017 Escape has earned the Overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating** by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Ford Escape is equipped with features to help you maintain control, as well as to help protect you in the event of an accident: (1) Standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) includes Curve Control,39 designed to slow you down when it senses you’re going too fast for a particular curve. There’s also the Safety Canopy® System with two-row side-curtain airbags.*
LANE KEEPING SYSTEM
The available driver-activated Lane-Keeping System can alert you to unintentional lane drifting.*10 Choose the Lane-Keeping Alert mode that vibrates the steering wheel when you drift too close to a lane marker — or the Lane-Keeping Aid mode that activates a directional steering torque to help guide you back to the center of the lane.
ENHANCED ACTIVE PARKING ASSIST
(1) Parallel Parking scans for an appropriate space, signals when one is found, then helps steer you into the space.*
(2) Park-Out Assist provides instructions on shifting and moving forward/back to help steer you out of a tight spot.*
(3) Reverse Perpendicular Parking finds a suitable space and helps you back in.*
(4) Side Sensing System emits a warning when you get too close to an object on either side of your vehicle.

SYNC® Connect
With a SYNC® Connect-equipped vehicle, you can use FordPass® to track your vehicle’s location and remotely access vehicle features such as start, lock and unlock and vehicle status including fuel level and approximate mileage. You can also schedule specific times to remotely start your vehicle so it’s ready to hit the road as soon as you are.*
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
Two roadtrips within a week driving the Ford Escape. It was lots of fun but its always better when you have great friends to have the experience with. The SUV was perfect for both my planned and spontaneous road trip in Georgia. I am a city girl, but both Augusta and Cleveland,GA were outside the city but cool places to check out! The Ford Escape had so many cool amenities while driving and it inspired me to keep taking roadtrips, even if its within my same state!

I didn’t have the chance to see the eclipse though I wished to
That car is beautiful especially because it’s red.
I’m so jealous that you saw the eclipse! I’m over in Europe, so it was just a normal day for me. But I kept seeing everyone post on social media about it.
Roomy ride! On another note, you look absolutely gorgeous, queen!
That sounds like a really sweet way to get around. I have heard great things about this car.
The Ford Escape is one awesome vehicle. All those high-tech features, fuel efficiency and safety features make this a must-have car! We are currently looking around for a car for our son. This might just be the one we’ll get for him.
