HORROR MOVIES STARRING BLACK LEADS FOR HALLOWEEN | OCTOBER 2020 Saturday 31 October, 2020
The horror movie industry is getting more and more inclusive by the year. I am so in love with it! Did you all know horror is one of my favorite genres? I will be honest, as it was my favorite genre, I rarely saw myself. I grew up in the 90s so Candyman, The Craft and Eve’s Bayou were the few films that I saw people of color in a horror genre as a lead. Why did it take 20 years later to see more black people star in horror films?
I call it the Jordan Peele effect. Since Get Out (2017), that was phenomenal movie starring a black lead and mostly black cast that Jordan Peele broke numbers in the industry. It open doors for many more films and tv shows to be developed since in the horror genre with black leads. Films and movies to follow after Get Out were US, MA, Lovecraft Country and more! It is spooky season and we are staying home and streaming during this pandemic and this October we have a plethora of horror films starring black leads. Check out the trailers, synopsis and releases below!

If someone wants to have a scary movie night in, you curated the perfect list to go by! Great recommendations!
Really want to watch bad hair movie. Sounds interesting
Wow, this saved my Sunday. I know what I’m going to watch tonight with my partner. ❤️
I haven’t watched the rest, except the Vampire and the Bronx which I did enjoy so much. I like the whole story, and how much the community united against the evil.
I love seeing the number of black actors starring in horror films. It starts to dispel the (true) myth that black people always die first in horror movies.
While I love a good movie, I can’t handle horror films. They freak me out and then I can’t sleep at night for the next few days!
Just watched his house last night, I am not going to spoil it but I love the cinematography and sound effect. Bad Hair? I might “enjoy” it because I could already tell the entire movie from the trailer and seems it needs more good acting.
“Black Box” and “Bad Hair Day” are my pick from all these.
Thanks for recommending
I don’t watch any of them. I’m just a great big chicken. 🙂
I’m not into horror movies but thanks for the list.
Great ideas for those that love horror movies!
We’ve watched the vampires in the bronx and it was fun watching it. It’s not that creepy and yet, perfect for halloween.
haven’t watched any single of these but some of these definitely sounds so amazing and interesting one’s…indeed glad you shared this with us..great work though…
Black Box seems fun to watch. I can’t wait to see it next weekend.
My kids and husband love that genre and I am a scary cat who seems not being able to enjoy their excitement.
I haven’t seen anyone from this list but it looks perfect for me for this weekend. I’m bookmarking it.
