M3GAN 2.0 Review: The AI Superhero Sequel Nobody Saw Coming Friday 27 June, 2025

Hold onto your circuits, because M3GAN (Amie Donald/Jenna Davis) is back, and she’s NOTHING like her previous murder-happy self! This sequel is the plot twist nobody saw coming – imagine if your childhood killer doll suddenly decided to become a superhero. Wild, right?
Gemma (Allison Williams) has completely transformed her approach after her first AI creation went, well, completely bonkers. Now she’s running the Center for Safe Technology, working alongside Christian (Aristotle Athari), trying to prove that AI might actually save us instead of, you know, trying to kill us.
The real scene-stealer is Cady (Violet McGraw), Gemma’s niece, who’s dealing with her traumatic M3GAN experience by becoming a total badass. Her newfound love for Aikido and Steven Seagal movies is comedy gold – turns out near-death experiences make for some seriously impressive self-defense skills!
But here’s where it gets REALLY interesting. Enter Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), a military-grade AI weapon that makes M3GAN’s previous murderous tendencies look like child’s play. Suddenly, we’re not just watching a horror movie – we’re getting an AI showdown that’s part action movie, part philosophical debate about technology’s potential.
The supporting cast – Tess (Jen Van Eppis) and Cole (Brian Jordan Alvarez) – add just the right amount of humor and heart to what could have been a super-serious sci-fi adventure. Their work on a robotic exosuit is both hilarious and slightly terrifying.
What sets M3GAN 2.0 apart is its bold genre-hopping. It’s not trying to be another scary doll movie. Instead, it’s asking big questions: Can AI be good? Can a killer robot become a hero? The answer seems to be a resounding “maybe” – and that’s what makes this movie so compelling. Chucky may be the “Good Guy” doll, but M3GAN is evolving into a true “Good Girl” AI! She’s trading her killer ways for a mission to prove that AI can be a force for good.
The consciousness-jumping plot might sound complicated, but trust me, it’s more fun than confusing. M3GAN literally transfers between devices and even humans, showing just how unpredictable (and potentially awesome) advanced technology could be. Forget classic showdowns like Alien vs. Predator; it’s all about AI vs. AI now. M3GAN is set to battle other technologies to show who’s the most advanced and ethical.
Bottom line: This isn’t your typical horror sequel. It’s a wild ride that’ll make you laugh, think,Move over, traditional horror villains – the future is female, and she’s powered by artificial intelligence!
Bonus: Stay for the Aikido scenes. Cady’s moves are EPIC.
