On a star-studded evening of Tuesday, March 19, the spotlight at Hollywood’s legendary Egyptian Theatre shone exclusively on the premiere of “SHIRLEY,” a film that stars the incomparable Regina King. This remarkable event wasn’t just a gathering; it was a celebration of cinematic art, history, and the enduring legacy of Shirley Chisholm, brought to life by King’s powerful portrayal.

The creative forces behind the film, producers Anikah McLaren, Elizabeth Haggard, and Ted Gidlow, were present, celebrating alongside real-life inspirations Representative Barbara Lee and Robert Gottlieb.

Adding a unique layer to the evening, Netflix collaborated with the Black Girl Art Show to commission five artists—Ija Charles, Faith Hudgens, Keila Strong, Brianna Pippens, and Simone Agoussoye—to create bespoke artwork inspired by Shirley Chisholm’s indomitable spirit. These artists brought their vibrant works to the premiere, sharing moments and capturing memories with Regina King.
