The Holidays Are Calling for A Santa Baby? Saturday 20 December, 2014

Ok let me be real candid with you all. I have been so busy and also kind of on edge because of the holiday suspense and I am not talking about Christmas shopping. My sister is pregnant and my family is anticipating the arrival of my niece. These last few days have been very antsy because my sister is actually late…my niece Zendaya was supposed to be born on Dec.15th…and she is still not here. So is Santa bring a baby for Christmas?
So whenever a baby is born, what is one of the first things people do in modern days to announce a safe delivery? They post on social media right? Every week (basically every other day) I go to Facebook and I literally and seeing a new baby on my timeline. That’s how we let the world know that a new addition is here in the world (do people even send baby announcements through snail mail anymore)? With that being said, my sister is still pregnant – and now I am getting calls and messages constantly asking me “Did she go into labor“, “Is Zendaya here yet“, “Where are pictures of the baby“? Le sigh.
My sister isn’t in labor. My niece is still not here. For all of you all who know anything about pregnancy a woman can go into labor 2 weeks before her due dates or 2 weeks after, and anything after that the doctors will have to induce her. As we wait for baby Zendaya to make an appearance, I decided it was proper to help my sister out with the announcements. Now everyone basically in the world has a smartphone right? Wrong…my sister does not have a smart phone! She has a standard phone for texting and calling, but no extra fun features us first world people are used to having. She’s actually never had a smartphone but I think it’s imperative she have one, especially for her to send out instant birth announcements via social media. I live in Atlanta, but we have family in different parts of the US and we aren’t all meeting up for holiday travels so for the people who can’t make it down for Christmas or my sister’s birth will have to keep updated via Facebook. So as you can see, my sister needs the phone.
So here is the phone. Its actually pretty cute and slim, and for my sister this is gonna be amazing for here because of all the Andriod apps and tech navigation. Again, right now she has a basic phone but these are the main apps she will use to do her Modern Baby Announcement Blast after she gives birth to my niece. So there is a camera to take a picture of my cute little niece & w/front-facing lens also for selfies 🙂 + Gmail email for the email blast + the contact section to send out mass texts of baby Zendaya’s first pictures into the world! I am so excited I dont know what to do…I just want here to be here. Oh…my sister doesn’t have a Facebook account (yet) so she may or may not download it now that she has the phone, but I will leave that up to here. If not, Text + Email will do for the blast. Saving Stamps with Technology!!
Again, photos is one of the main reasons why I want my sister to have this phone. Not just for the hospital, but afterwards she will be able to send photos to my family + I even when we are not around. Trust me I don’t know how my sister was able to function without a smartphone for so long, but seeing baby Zendaya it will be very necessary! Again, I am so excited and anxious!
The great thing about this phone is that there is absolutely NO CONTRACT with Unlimited Talk and Data. My sister currently isnt with a major mobile network – so this will be an easy transistion to use her new smart phone for only $34.88 a month (text, talk, web). If this sound like something you would consider, the Walmart Family Mobile plan is definitely a great option. They also have the following phones on Rollback right now.
- Alcatel One Touch Evolve 2 – $49.88 (was $59.88)
- ZTE ZMAX – $179.00 (was $199.88)
- LG L90 – $119.00 (was $179.88)
- Nokia Lumia 635 – $99.88 (was $129.88)
- Samsung Galaxy Exhibit – $79.88 (was $99.88)
- Nokia Lumia 530 – $49.88 (was $69.88)
The Walmart Family Mobile service is $34.88/month for Unlimited Talk, Text, & Web ($29.88 for the second line).
There will be a $40 Walmart Giftcard promotion with the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy Avant, 12/14-12/27. Here is more information on the gift card promotion for the Samsung Galaxy Avant.
I havent given her the phone yet, I want to wait until she has the baby. So this is an early Christmas gift (if she doesnt go into labor on the actual holiday date) and I would love for her to have this phone and share Zendaya’s arrival with friends and family. My family would have to do it for her if I didnt give her this phone, but now when the baby arrives she will have it.
But until then, this present will sit under the Christmas tree, wrapped until we get the call that Zendaya is on the way. Will she be a Christmas baby? I really hope not because I can’t wait, the world is waiting for her appearance and ready to send out the social media blast of her cute little face. In this modern world, Facebook is the best way to keep in touch with your loved ones…definitely if you can see them all for the holidays.
I can’t wait to meet Zendaya…that will be the best Christmas gift my family will receive this year. Will she be a Santa Baby? Maybe…I will keep you all updated!
I hope your niece comes soon! And it’s great that you were able to gift your sis the smartphone, this way the family will know as soon as the baby is here! Happy Holidays!
Congrats on the upcoming new member of the family. My son was also 2 weeks late and family called several times a day. This sounds like a great phone. I think smart phones and social media make it a lot easier to get the word out.
Awww waiting for baby can be the worst. Hope she comes soon and safely. I love how easy it is to stay connected with cell phones now.
Well wow… maybe your sister will have a Santa Baby. That would be pretty darn cool. Good luck!!

It’s so hard to convince some members of my family to get a cell phones. This could be a good way to do it.
I agree, Walmart does have some great deals on phones. Congrats on the new upcoming member of the family.
This was too cute! Now you have me on baby watch for your niece.
We stay in touch with video calling. My parents are in Florida for the winter so we do a lot of video calls.

Now I’m going to be on baby watch too! I think this is a perfect gift to get for a new mom..this is something she can really use. I agree we all want to see a new baby! Keep us posted on the baby watch.
Sounds like an awesome phone plan! I love mine, but it’s always great to pass on good info for savings!
How cute is your sissy! Congrats to her and I praying for a safe delivery. I know your niece is going to be a doll. And yes ma’am your sister definitely needed a smart phone! Best mama gift ever. LOL. The phone is cute and Walmart is tempting me to break my contract! I need freedom. Happy Holidays and congrats on baby Z.
Thank God all three of my babies were either on time or early according to my due date (my first born came on his actual due date). So I can’t imagine waiting up to two weeks past the due date. But praying for a safe and healthy delievery for your sister and niece 🙂 And glad she will now be able to share this exciting news with those closest to her. My parents just got their first smartphones and I was seriously impressed to see them checking email on it LOL
That’s a very thoughtful gift and I’m sure it will be much appreciated and used. I hope the baby comes at just the “right” time – sometimes they have their own plans about these things!
Smart phones have totally changed ( mostly for the better ) the way we live. Even if close friends and relatives live far away, catching up and staying connected has become easier. I always receive photos of my friends their family, upcoming babies, events in their lives, etc if not from FB, I get it through WhatsApp or Viber.
And, I’m glad that there are affordable smart phones and plans that are reasonable for everyone. I’m all for keeping everyone connected 🙂
Awww a Christmas baby would be so fun. My newly married daughter won’t be coming home for Christmas. I know this means we’ll talk on the phone! Thank goodness!
Sounds like a wonderful phone! I miss having a no contract phone. The only difference now is that I pay a costly bill per month.
My husband would be in heaven if I got him that phone! I know that Walmart is always the first place I look for any electronics for the best price!
