At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, director Barry Jenkins and the brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda took the stage, joined by a star-studded cast including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Theo Somolu, Braelyn Rankins, and Anika Noni Rose. They thrilled fans with an exciting new trailer and poster that got everyone buzzing!

The night reached a spectacular finale with a show-stopping performance of the classic “Nants’ Ingonyama” and a brand-new song, “Ngomso,” by the legendary Lebo M. and a full choir that had us all singing along. This enchanting film takes us on the unlikely journey of how Mufasa became the beloved king of the Pride Lands. Rafiki shares Mufasa’s story with young cub Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, while our favorite duo, Timon and Pumbaa, add their signature humor to the adventure. Through flashbacks, we meet Mufasa as an orphaned cub, feeling lost and alone until he encounters a kind lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. This chance meeting sparks an incredible journey for a group of misfits as they search for their destinies, facing challenges that will test their bonds as they work together to escape a looming threat.
