Anybody a fan of The Bodyguard Movie? Even though I was a little girl when it originally came out in 1992, I loved this iconic movie. Orignally starring the legendary and late Whitney Houston, she was a star playing a star and the soundtrack introduced to the world some of the most power love songs that was ever sang! The Bodyguard has been made into a musical and I got a great opportunity to see it opening night in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre.

The Bodyguard Musical Overview:Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love. A breathtakingly romantic thriller, The Bodyguard features a host of irresistible classics including “Queen of the Night,” “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” “Run to You,” “I Have Nothing,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and one of the biggest selling songs of all time – “I Will Always Love You.”

Deborah Cox is the star of the show and plays Rachel Marron, in honor of the late and great Whitney Houston in the original The BodyGuard (1992) film. Deborah Cox was a powerhouse R&B singer in the 90s, but she is proving with this stageplay how powerful her talents really go. Knowning she was the vocals behind Lifetime’s Whitney biopic, I already knew voicewise she was going to have her chops down to a tee. She gave me chills as she sang Whitney’s famous songs as if she came back to life to party with us.
This musical is more than just a revised stageplay of the original film, its an all out party! Deborah Cox not only performed a few of the famous hits from The BodyGuard soundtracks, but many songs were mixed in of Whitney’s best hits. I loved how they took Whitney’s top songs and blended it in with the storyline, to create a lovestory with lyrics. It was brilliant. It was not only a musical it really was a Whitney tribute!
If you are a fan of the original film and a fan of Whitney Houston this play is a must-see! One of the best stageplay shows I have ever seen in my life. I literally got my life watching this and I laughed, cried and relived the movie storyline all over again.

This would be one awesome musical! The movie was unforgettable. I loved it and would watch it over again if I had the chance. The musical would be the next best thing!
My husband enjoys this movie and has watched it several times. I could never really get into the movie but I have watched is several times with my husband. The music was it’s only saving grace for myself. Sure the play live is really good and to hear them sing.
I love going to shows like this! It’s so much fun to see the directors interpretation of something. This movie was out standing I am betting the show was also.
The Bodyguard was one of my favorite movies years ago. Houston and Costner had such great chemistry. I would love to see this play. My favorite Whitney song would have to be I Want To Dance With Somebody.
I love the Bodyguard and glad to see that it has been made into a musical! Of course who could dislike the I Will Always Love You song? Glad you were able to experience it, looks amazingly fun!

I SOOO badly want to see this! I grew up watching the Bodyguard, listening to Whitney Houston (and Deborah Cox) singing to both of their music… Deborah can sing, but even still, Whitney’s voice is such big shoes to fill… what a challenge… glad you got to experience this event : ) you’re very lucky!
