Attention, Everyone! The Sensational Tony Award®-Winning Musical Returns: THE WIZ Comes Back to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre!

Get ready, Atlanta! The highly anticipated national tour of THE WIZ is coming to the Fox Theatre for eight incredible performances from November 14th to 19th.

After a 40-year hiatus, THE WIZ is making a triumphant return to stages across America with an exciting new Broadway-bound tour. Kicking off in Baltimore, the city where the show first premiered 50 years ago, audiences can once again experience the magic of this beloved production.

With its groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz, this production of The Wiz has left an indelible mark on Broadway. From its soulful, gospel, rock, and 70s funk-infused score to its captivating story of Dorothy’s quest for belonging in a modern world, it has captivated audiences.

The extraordinary cast includes Alan Mingo Jr. (known for Kinky Boots) as The Wiz, acclaimed recording artist Deborah Cox as Glinda, Melody Betts (from The Factotum, Lyric Opera of Chicago) in the roles of Aunt Em and Evillene, Kyle Ramar Freeman (featured in A Strange Loop) as Lion, Phillip Johnson Richardson (known for “Sharper,” A24), and recording artist Avery Wilson (“On Top of the World”) as Scarecrow. Making a remarkable Broadway debut, Nichelle Lewis (seen in Hairspray, National Tour) takes on the star role of Dorothy.

The Wiz ensemble includes Maya Bowles, Shayla Alayre Caldwell, Jay Copeland, Allyson Kaye Daniel, Judith Franklin, Michael Samarie George, Collin Heyward, Amber Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Christina Jones, Polanco Jones, Kolby Kindle, Mariah Lyttle, Kareem Marsh, Anthony Murphy, Cristina Rae, Matthew Sims Jr, Avilon Trust Tate, Keenan D. Washington, and Timothy Wilson.

THE WIZ is produced by Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Brian Anthony Moreland and The Ambassador Theatre Group. The production is also thrilled to welcome Atlanta’s own Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker as producers of the musical.

– Tuesday to Thursday: 7:30 p.m.
– Friday: 8 p.m.
– Saturday: 2 p.m., 8 p.m.
– Sunday: 1 p.m., 6:30 p.m.
