My crochet braids from a few months ago
I have been getting so many compliments on my hair lately. You all know I love my curls to pieces, but let me be real…MY hair and curls are a lot of work! Do you guys understand what I have to do with my hair and maintaince??? I love my curls but I need a break sometimes. So think year I did experiement with crochet braids…where textued hair is actually crocheted in my hair. I loved it, so much I kept getting it done for the 1st four months of this year. If you look at my hair…it was wild and free but no real curl pattern. When you get crochet hair…it’s not human hair so you can’t curl it yourself. The synthetic hair comes afro-textured and if you want curl you would have to do what is called a “dipping method” and my stylist never wanted to do it due to time and even health hazards.
But great news! I can now crochet my hair with pre-curled hair by this wonderful brand called Curlkalon! Can I tell you what a lifesaver this brand of hair is to my stylist and myself? Let me explain…there is nothing on the market like Curlkalon hair its the first of it’s kind. Curlkalon is pre-curl textured hair made specifically for crochet braid protective styling. I actually know the co-owners Tiffini Gatlin and Shavone Riggins, who allowed me to rock their wonderful product for the last month. Yes I said I have been wearing these curls for about a month now…and yes my curls are still intact! No curling irons/wands needed! No needing to washing or add additional products to keep the curls intact…they keep put!
As i told you all earlier, I was wearing crochet braids for 4 months earlie this year, and then I gave it a break. I really wanted this protective styling with crochet braids so I did get the Curlkalon hair installed in my hair for my travel ventures this month! Yes in the month of July within two week of each other I went to Essence Festival in New Orleans and then to NYC for a bus tour…so as you can see I was on the go! Being on the go and doing my hair a lot is a no-no and these pre-curl hair saved me on my trips!

This hair looks great on you. I love how versatile it is and the different option one can get. I can’t decide if the hair is the focus of the pics or if it’s you with the hair because you are just stunning. I can’t do braids but I’m trying to see how to rock hair like this to give my natural hair a break.
I have been curious myself how people with those curls manage to get their hair washed and prepared every day. It looks good, bouncy, and natural. What color would you want for your curls? Highlights are now trending. Perhaps you can ask your stylist to do that.

first I’m glad your stylist steered clear of the other curls for health reasons! Second these curls look stunningly gorgeous. As a child my mom would refer to me as shirley temple becuase I had her gorgeous curls fast forward to too many heating tools and bam I’m a frizzy mess! Enjoy your girls lovey.
While I LOVE the curls and how easy it was to install them, unfortunately I had a HORRIBLE experience with them!
I purchased my hair on 8/30/16 and received it this past Tuesday. I installed the hair on Saturday night and it still looked gorgeous Sunday morning. When I came back from church, the curls in the front of my hair were gone!!! Like, they literally fell!
I do not expect this to happen especially with the price of this hair. I used Freetress for past 3 years and this NEVER happened with their hair. Due to their raving reviews, I had high expectations and I thought that my expectations were exceeded when I installed it but this is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!
I spoke to one of thier reps via their Facebook page and he/she advised me to contact customer care. He/she also stated that this would only happen in extreme heat. I live in NY. The temperature was only 80° and i was only in the sun for 10min while waiting for the bus.
Today (Wednesday – 4 days post installation) the issue with the curls falling has become a bigger issue. NI absolutely believe that this hair needs to be tested in the sun as I was sitting outside my office during lunch in a park since the weather was gorgeous and it happened again. I was only outside for 30 minutes. Today’s temperature in NY is 91.
I will be more than happy to repurchase at a later date once the hair has been tested for quality. It’s absolutely gorgeous but it really should not lose curls by sitting in the sun. The less expensive brands do not have this issue at all.
Hopefully they will investigate and fix this issue!
