Iris van Herpen Transforming Fashion Exhibit in Atlanta Wednesday 04 November, 2015
Exciting times in Atlanta as a world re-known celebrity fashion design is making its way into the city. Iris Van Herpen will be having a high fashion exhibit at the High Muesum of Arts in Atlanta. You may have seen her eclectic high dimensional pieces worn by celebrities such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Bjork and also turning heads on runways with her out of this world wardrobe.
The High Museum of Art will become the first museum in the United States to feature the work of contemporary Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen (pronounced “EAR-iss”) in an exhibition entitled Iris van Fashion. In fact, this exhibition will be their first fashion design exhibit!
Iris van Herpen creates haute couture that combines the latest in technology with fine handcraft techniques, both old and new, inspired by the arts, sciences, music and philosophy. In case you haven’t heard, her designs have been worn by the likes of Björk, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and have been seen on the runways of Amsterdam, London and Paris. She is indeed transforming fashion. This exhibit will feature some of the world’s first examples of 3D-printed fashion. Her visually impressive, sculptural designs often feature unusual materials like magnets, umbrella ribs, and synthetic boat rigging.
Featuring 45 outfits from 15 of van Herpen’s collections, this exhibition is a wonderful celebration of the art of fashion design. Now you and your readers get to see this exhibit first at the opening night party on November 6th. The Atlanta Ballet’s Wabi Sabi group and DJ Speakerfoxxx will be performing at the launch party, and most excitingly, Iris van Herpen will be there! If for some reason you can’t make it to this fabulous event, you can always visit the museum at a later date since the exhibition will be around until May 15th!
The Iris Van Herpen Transforming Fashion Exhibit will be on display in Atlanta from November 7th, 2015 – May 15th, 2016. Its a must-see gallery if you are in the city!
I invite you to check out this exhibit if you come to Atlanta. Learn more about the exhibit and purchase your tickets here https://www.high.org/Art/Exhibitions/Iris-van-Herpen
