Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pan-African Entertainment Powerhouse Kugali’s groundbreaking series ‘Iwájú‘ celebrated its world premiere in Lagos, Nigeria, at the Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX Lekki, setting the stage for its much-anticipated debut on Disney+ with all six episodes available today. The premiere saw the gathering of the creative minds behind the series including director Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, production designer Hamid Ibrahim, cultural consultant Tolu Olowofoyeku, and composer Ré Olunuga, alongside a constellation of special guests and celebrities. The voice cast featured Simisola Gbadamosi as Tola Martins, Femi Branch as Bode DeSousa, Toyin Oshinaike as Godspower, Bisola Aiyeola as Happiness, Ireti Doyle as Mrs. Usman, Kehinde Bankole as Mama Kole, Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah as Chioma, and Obi Maduegbuna in various roles, celebrating the series’.

Set against the backdrop of a futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, ‘Iwájú‘ tells the compelling story of young Tola and her tech-savvy friend Kole as they navigate the complexities of their worlds, uncovering hidden secrets and facing imminent dangers. This vibrant series, enriched with stunning visuals and futuristic concepts inspired by Lagos’s dynamic spirit, is a product of Kugali’s innovative storytelling and Disney Animation’s Christina Chen, with a screenplay by Adeola and Halima Hudson, featuring additional voices by Dayo Okeniyi and Weruche Opia.

SERIES DISTRIBUTION SECURED IN AFRICA

Expanding its reach, ‘Iwájú‘ will be broadcast across Africa on the Disney Channel—available on the DStv platform (Channel 303)—this spring, allowing audiences in regions without Disney+ access to enjoy the series.
