What I Learned from Tameka Raymond’s Style Theory Tour Thursday 22 January, 2015

Celebrity wardrobe stylist and business maven Tameka Raymond, along with a team of top style and beauty insiders, focused on inner- and outer-beauty during Atlanta’s Style Theory Tour, a fun, interactive, empowering workshop aimed at identifying and enhancing your best self. The 1-day workshop tour launched in Atlanta on January 17, 2015 at the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown, and brought together aspiring creative professionals and everyday women and men for a day filled with learning from some of the industry’s top Style and Beauty experts. Tameka Raymond is best known for being the ex-wife to mega-singer, Usher Raymond, but she has always been a fashion powerhouse in her own right.
Ms. Raymond gathered a team of stellar beauty and style professionals whose accomplishments are as impressive and expansive as their resumes. Guests enjoyed a day of knowledge and experiences including industry tips and tricks, best practices and developing trends in hair, makeup and wardrobe styling to arm attendees with the tools to make them and their clients the “total package.” Notable stylists and attendees included Nyssa Green (Emmy-award winning Makeup Artist/The Green Room Agency), Ashunta Sheriff (Celebrity Makeup Artist – Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson, Ashley Simpson), Terrence Davidson (Celebrity Hairstylist – Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Hudson, Tyra Banks), Paulette “Poppy” Robinson (Celebrity Hairstylist), Sarah Bentley Pearson (Wardrobe Stylist/Blogger), Kenny Burns (Revolt TV/Blue Flame Agency) and Christina Johnson (VH1’s Atlanta Exes).
What I Learned Fashion Wise From Tameka
Key Pieces for Any Wardrobe
Build your wardrobe with lots of solids and mix in a few prints
Too much coordination is bad (layering designer labels)
Too much color matching is also bad (unless its a monochromatic look)
Save money on high end designer brands by shopping styles out of season or consignment shops
Mix your fashion with high designers and lower end brands. Don’t feel you have to dress designer with all of your apparel.
I will be honest, I knew of only Tameka as the reality show cast member and of course Usher’s ex-wife. There is so many things in the tabloids about her and I just want to say I was able to change my perspective from what I’ve heard. She was the stylist to a lot of pop stars and she is very articulate about her fashion. I was impressed with what she taught on the tour, she was very personable, down to earth and I definitely learned more fashion etiquette and style tips from this session. I tell you all constantly, I am not a fashion blogger at all – but I am willing to learn. I am definitely taking her tips and going to apply it to my life. I want to build on my wardrobe this year and mature my style and getting an expert’s perspective really enlightened me.
I am happy I was able to attend the Style Theory Tour to learn about beauty, hair and fashion while also getting to know Tameka outside of a media perspective. It’s a great series and she is also going to more cities check out the list below.

I wish this was closer.Sounds fantastic.
If you have nothing else on that list, you must have the little black dress. There’s a reason it’s been in style for decades!
Wow sounds incredible. Tameka is uber talented and has such killer style. This must have been fabulous!
Yes, a little black dress is a MUST have! Now, to go and find one! It has been years since I have worn one!
This sounds like a fun convention. I need to get a staple pencil skirt and a new trench coat.
My wardrobe is decent, but I could use some help in the accessory department. The little details truly sell the outfit.
That’s a great list of style must haves. I love that book title. Lol. I don’t think I own a white bra
It’s amazing how your perspective can change when you meet someone. She seems to have very refined fashion taste
How cool! This sounds like an amazing event. I totally agree that a LBD is a MUST!
I would love some fashion tips. But I think I a most comfortable in what and how I dress. But I am sure I am not fashionable at all.
What a great sounding event would of loved to have gone :).
White Bras. That cute. I can’t imagine being married to Usher. I remember when he first came out. I was in my early 20s. Me and my girlfriends thought he was so cute.
I need to get a few comfortable pieces to wear instead of yoga pants. I feel i dress to casual.
I totally need to spruce up my wardrobe. Thanks for the tips and I’ll share the mens with my husband too!
I love a good book signing. I love the attendees bag too, but that’s totally besides the point. 😉 I’m glad it was a good event!
My fashion sense is awful! Right now it is all about comfort and baggy clothing!
