Marvel gives the God of Mischief a series| LOKI is now streaming on Disney+ Wednesday 09 June, 2021

The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Loki’ has debuted its first episode on Disney+. The Marvel series dedicated to the God of Mischief has begun and is now available to stream.

Following in the footsteps of ‘WandaVision’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Loki’ enters the fray as the new weekly series inducted into the MCU.

Who is Loki?

Underneath the familiar horned helmet is Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the God of Mischief. He’s charmed his way across the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past ten years, coming up against the Avengers, Thanos and even his own families (it’s complicated). He’s the adopted son of Odin, King of Asgard, whose MCU story began when his brother Thor was named the heir to their father’s throne.

First seen 2011 Thor, Loki, the son of Laufey, king of Frost Giant, abandoned Loki as a baby. Fortunately for Loki, King Odin of Asgard found a young child and adopted him. He was later raised as a prince of Asgard with Odin’s birth son, Thor.

Loki was not a warrior like Thor, but grew up behind his eldest son. However, he became friends with his adoptive mother, Frigga. Frigga teaches you magic, so you can acquire a slightly trickier skill set. What could be the problem?

He is so jealous of Thor that he plans to take the throne of Asgard and learns his true legacy along the way. He eventually kills Laufey and fights Thor before falling into a wormhole. The plan failed, but he came to know his past.

Loki’s Mortality

Loki, but their new brotherhood is short-lived. In the first moment of 2018 Avengers / Infinity War, Thanos and his companions intercept Asgard’s ship while searching for Tesselact. Titan kills Loki as Loki tries to stab Thanos with a trick.

“There is no resuscitation this time,” Thanos said before dropping Loki’s lifeless corpse onto the deck.

This heroic sacrifice looked like the disastrous ending of the Naughty God’s story, but the Avengers soon changed it with some timeline interference.

The Time Variance Authority?

Yes, that’s right, the Time Variance Authority or TVA for short, are at the center of the plot of the series. The TVA is a bureaucratic organization that protects the “proper flow of time”. It’s safe to assume that Loki doesn’t conform to their protocols at all.

The series will see the TVA take Loki into custody to use him to solve a serious crime and help fix the timeline he damaged when he escaped with the Tesseract. Loki must work alongside Owen Wilson’s Agent Mobius, and with all the new branch timelines created, the pair will have plenty to keep them busy across six episodes. But how will Loki fare, given his previous history of not being good at following orders?

LOKI Cast

Joining the MCU is Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer (a judge in the TVA)

Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter-B15 (a badass hunter, determined to delete the Loki variant)

Sophia Di Martino and Sasha Lane are cast in undisclosed roles

Richard E. Grant is also cast and could play an older version of Loki.

‘Loki’ is following a slightly different release schedule. Where the former both released weekly on Fridays, ‘Loki’ will be released each Wednesday over the course of six weeks, concluding on July 14th.

Loki streams exclusively on Disney+ on June 9th, with new episodes hitting the streaming service every Wednesday.
