Synopsis:A modern re-imagining of the classic romantic comedy (About Last Night,1986), this contemporary version closely follows new love for two couples as they journey from the bar to the bedroom and are eventually put to the test in the real world.

My Opinion: Ok let’s take a moment to ask Does Kevin Hart sleep? Take naps or anything anymore. This is his third movie in 3 months (Grudgematch, Ride Along) so he is headlining this cute Valentines Day special that is perfect for the upcoming lovebird holiday. It’s a remake of the original About Last Night, except it the African American All-Star cast modern version. It’s always great to see another perspective and twist on an old school movie.

So the movie starts with Bernie (Kevin Hart) and Joan (Regina Hall) who are new friends with benefit lovers that have both dragged their best friends on an unexpected and awkward double date with Danny (Michael Ealy) and Debbie (Joy Bryant). They go to a hip lounge where Bernie and Joan get over-the-top wasted and frisky couple, while Danny and Debbie look like the boring drab couple. As Bernie and Joan depart for a night of fun, Danny and Debbie actually spark an interesting connection…which leads into a one night stand. about_last_night__regina_king_kevin_hart

So from bar the bed, an interesting sporadic love connection between Danny and  Debbie (which by the way are a cute couple). So as we see Danny and Debbie’s relationship blossom, Bernie and Joan’s relationship becomes dysfunctional. The great part about this film is you see the two different gender but accurate dating paradigms; male and female. How guys and girls do ask their friends “About Last Night” with their partners. It’s a very relatable perspective of modern dating of ups and downs, highs and lows, and the loops that come between one and their WingMan (or Woman).

I honestly loved this movie! It was adorable, but not too much where men would call it a “Chick Flick”. It is definitely a movie for box sexes and everyone across the board can relate and laugh. So as the teaser posters profess this movie is about compromise, mistakes, fowl-play, and of course LOVE. Take your loved one or a wingman/girl (if you don’t have an official date for V-Day) and spend the holiday with a great movie.

P.S. I am actually going to an exclusive VIP Blogger Media event this upcoming Monday, so I will definitely dish out more up close and personal information about the movie directly from the cast. Look out for the blog next week.
