{Movie Review} The Boy Next Door (2015) Friday 23 January, 2015

It’s movie review time and this one is a thriller starring Jennifer Lopez! I haven’t seen a J.Lo flick in a long time so The Boy Next Door was a film I was really excited to see. No red carpet in Atlanta this time, but no worries I still got you cover in what to expect from this film.
TRAILER
Synopsis Neglected by her adulterous husband and left feeling particularly vulnerable as her marriage crumbles, lonely teacher Claire (Jennifer Lopez) has an affair with a younger neighbor (Ryan Guzman) that turns terrifying as his fiery lust morphs into dangerous obsession. John Corbett, Ian Nelson, and Kristin Chenoweth co-star. via Fandango
My opinion O.M.G is all I said throughout this film! Man I haven’t seen a thriller in a long time. The erotica thriller films haven’t been as strong in present times as it was in the 90s such as Swimfan(2002), Disturbia (2007), Basic Instinct (1992) and Fatal Attraction(1987). In fact, some critics say this is the Fatal Attraction of 2015! Well I will say this girl next doors are always cute and innocent, but when did the boy next door become so hot and seductive? I don’t blame Jenifer Lopez character for lusting after a young man half her age, a 19 year old Noah (Guzman) has just enough charm and youth sexiness that will have any woman tempted. She indulged a bit and the cutie turned crazy really quickly! I know most thrillers are some what predictable, and I will be honest some parts were…but some parts really SHOCKED me. I almost felt I was watching a horror movie and I jumped (and possibly school girl screamed) quite a few times in this showing. Noah was a very attractive young man, but psychotic definitely followed with him (cute factor went down for me lol). The director actually admitted this film was influenced by the real-life story of Mary Kay Letourneau, a teacher who became involved with her underage student, causing her to be convicted for rape charges. I know about that story, and I think it’s brilliant to sort of do a movie adaptation of a woman lusting for a younger guy – that’s a story rarely told. I love the perspective of a woman having sexual desires and lust for younger, but although its taboo hello MILFs are still very popular thanks to American Pie and cougars are hotter than ever before!
Speaking of hot, Jenny was the right MILF to play for the film. She has always been hot, but she just rubs and oozes her sultry sexiness all over this film without even trying…how does she do it. She is a real MILF by the way with twins! Superwoman I tell you…and I can see how some one could be obsessed over her (its still not right). I love this film and it did bright life back into the romantic thriller genre again and hope to see more popping up in the future! It just goes to show you that lusting can lead to lunacy!
The Boy Next Door in theaters Friday January 23rd // Social #THEBOYNEXTDOOR
I don’t think it’s taboo at all for women to like younger men. I happen to fancy one myself. This movie also looks fantastic.
I think my heart would be left hanging throughout the movie. I like watching thriller films and this one is also my cup of tea. 🙂 With all the twists shown in the trailer that seemed exciting, I can’t wait to catch this with my sister!
I’ve seen some of the previews for this movie, and part of me has been interested and part not. Your description helped me in letting me know that the guy is at least 19 and of legal age, but for some reason the previews make the movie seem almost predatory (in my opinion). I think it is fine for an older woman to go after younger men, just the same as it is vice versa, as long as they are in the same life stage.
Sometimes, I really begin to believe I live under a rock.. I haven’t even heard of this movie or knew it was coming out? It looks awesome, and I believe I just found what we will be doing on date night this weekend 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I don’t think it’s taboo for older woman to lust after younger men, but following through is another thing. This movie looks good. I need to see it.
J. Lo always plays really convincing roles! Reminds me of her Enough role
I CANNOT wait to see this! I love Jennifer Lopez. She’s beautiful, and she’s a great actress. This going to be great!
I actually have seen this trailer so many times and I could not make up my mind if I wanted to go see it or not. I have not seen a good JLo movie in forever. I’m happy you posted how you feel about it because i’m just not to sure about seeing a thriller 🙂 It does seem very hot and sexy though. Maybe I will have to see it. UGH I can make up my mind and now i’m rambling through comment haha
Wow, I didn’t even know that Jennifer Lopez was even doing movies anymore–I think the last movie I saw with her was “The Wedding Planner” forever again. Props to her for still doing her thing! I love a good thriller, so I’ll have to check this one out!
All of the buzz I’ve heard about this movie centers around how killer Jennifer Lopez looks. It looks like a great movie, in addition to her being totally gorgeous.
I can’t wait to see The Boy Next Door!! Looks like such a good suspenseful movie. I had no idea based off the previews he was 19 years old the previews make him seem so much younger. Glad to hear it was a good movie!
I’ve seen a lot of commercials for this film lately. It certainly looks dramatic!
This movie looks so good! I definitely want to see it!
I am looking forward to seeing this movie with my friends. I think it is becoming more common for people to date further from there age.
The previews for this movie always grab my attention. I don’t think it is so uncommon for women to date a little younger than they are anymore.
I have definitely seen so many different commercials for this lately! I am so intrigued by it! It’s such a great spinoff, I think that it would be a hit. Thanks for the excellent review alongside with the previews of the YouTube trailers!
I have got to see this one. It looks awesome.
I have always been a fan of Jennifer Lopez. I can’t wait to see this!
Ah, I say it makes more sense for an older woman to lust after a younger man than it does for older men to chase young girls. Let’s face it, our sex drive ramps up as theirs starts to decline (women never catch a break, eh?) so I say to go for it!
I think it’s actually really common for older women to like younger men. My hubby is 3 years younger than me. Everyone in his family like older partners too. His dad was older than his mom and both his sisters are dating guys older than them (7 years and 4 years). It’s not really that uncommon or looked down on anymore.
I haven’t even seen a preview for this movie yet, now I can’t wait to see it!
I can’t wait to see this movie, this weekend… I know it’s going to be awesome.
I think it is ok to want a younger man. Just don’t know if I would.
It’s nice to see Jennifer Lopez back on the screen. She usually does a really good job. I was debating about going to see this movie. It looks good, but it also reminds me of another movie from a few years ago. I can’t remember the name. Sadly.
Wow, I think the last J-Lo film I saw was Maid in Manhattan! She looks transformed in that film, I love when people look completely different in their films. I’ll have to see this film soon, I don’t think it’s released in Ireland yet.
I’ve seen this preview a few times, and I’m actually really intrigued to see it! You’re right, these kind of thrillers haven’t been around in a while, but I typically liked them!
Although I’m not fan of JLo, she is a great actress. Not a fan of her music but she was awesome in Enough and Maid of Manhattan. I’d love to see her act in more movies. I’ll def keep this on my radar when it hits cable though. Thanks for the review.
I love J-Lo, but a not sure I can handle this movie. I get scared and freaked out easily!
It does sound a bit Fatal Attraction-ish. It sort of creeps me out that he’s in high school, though. That’s just too young!
I really like Jennifer Lopez, but I have not seen this movie. You can almost tell by the first picture in your post that this is a Thriller. I can’t wait to see it!
I love all Jennifer Lopez movies! I am already marking it in my calendar to see this one.
