SCARE YOURSELF SILLY: ALL NEW NETHERWORLD HAUNTED HOUSE IN STONE MOUNTAIN Thursday 18 October, 2018
I grew up going to haunted houses as a teen. It is one of my Fall and Halloween traditions to visit a haunted house. I love Netherworld, the #1 haunted house experience in the nation and this year it is in a new location in Stone Mountain, GA. In this new location, this massive complex sits on almost 10 acres features much larger haunts, escape games, party rooms, a monster museum (called the “House of Creeps”), an expanded midway, an elaborate gift shop and lots of free parking!
This is for the young and young at heart and for people who like to scare themselves silly from time to time! A group of friends and I met up here and experienced the two haunted houses on site together! I will put a disclaimer: If you scare easily or have breathing health conditions, please consider if this is the experience for you.
HAUNTED HOUSE #1
The Awakened: Rotted mummified corpses each with a single hideous eye in its forehead have emerged from the depths below to destroy everything in their path. Explore the cursed town of Whyshburg, make your way through its ancient crumbling cemetery, enter the haunted Colber Mansion, and then descend to the forbidden city deep below the mountain to confront the ancient horror that created The Awakened – If You Dare!
Featuring: The Stone Giants Gateway, the Mausoleums of the Doomed, the Twisted Coffin Labyrinth, the Feral Bone Gnawers, the Basement of Unspeakable Horrors, the Blood Drenched All Seeing Eye, the Toppled Towers of Lost Carcosa, the Horrifying Lair of the Undying and much, much more!
HAUNTED HOUSE #2
Subject: UNKNOWN: Dissection of an extraterrestrial life form has released a rapidly mutating virus into the facility, The BOX. Infected subjects have shown rapid anomalous tissue growth, near indestructibility and extreme aggression. Additionally, many of the other experiments have escaped their cells and are extremely dangerous. After receiving your briefing, you must enter The BOX and successfully complete your assignment before the rampaging horrors of the UNKNOWN subject you to a fate worse than death!
Featuring: Massive warbots, hideous alien autopsies, ghastly flesh-eating monsters, cloned prehistoric beasts, contained cryptids unleashed, the Elevator of Doom, the Crushing Claw, the Meat Smasher, the Monorail of Madness, the Silo of Secrets, the Horrors of the Unknown and a never-ending stream of science fiction terror sure to warp your mind!
The Haunted Houses were done really well this year. Every year its a new theme and a different layout, so no two haunted house experiences have ever been the same from previous years. I laughed, I screamed, my friends fell down, and we even ran a little bit. After we caught our breathes from both houses, you can hang in the center and take lots of photos and get concession food and play games.
Another one of the photo op spots in at Netherworld is the Electroshock chair! The chair really vibrates, I kept laughing to be honest because the vibration was really shaking me. I dont know how people kept character – I couldnt keep a straight face!
I took a haunted house newbie with me to Netherworld. I could not believe that Carl never been to a haunted house before in his life. I kept hyping him up for weeks he had to go with me and he agreed to experience it. Being the typical guy that he was he acted all macho and hard body like nothing could scare him. He wasn’t scared in either houses but he did say he had a good time, probably way better than expected!
Also I loved how after you do one or both houses, you have plenty of places to do photo opps. There are characters walking around and willing to take pictures and video with you. Some will even try to sneak up on you and scare you too but in a fun way. Its scary, but a lot of it is in your mind.
I highly recommend going with some friends it makes the experience much more fun, and you can have help when you feel like you need the extra survivor instinct. Also I highly recommend the Speed Pass (SpeedPasses give you rapid access to both haunted houses! Once you have your SpeedPass ticket you can go straight to the special SpeedPass entrance of each haunt for fast, often immediate access). Pay extra to skip the lines because on the weekends it is definitely a longer wait time. Also if you do go in larger groups look into group discount rates too!

I love going to haunted houses on Halloween. They’re the best part of the season!
It looks like you had a blast! I get scared so easy, I’m such a whimp. I have memories of going into a few haunted houses during my teenage years and they’ve scarred me for life – I guess that means they did their job lol!
I am SUCH a baby! Kudos to you for going… I don’t think I could! I’m too scared and this looks really scary! LOL
This looks really good! I have already been to one haunted house this year!!
That looks like an awesome haunted house. I love haunted houses. I’m always up for a great haunted house.
In theory, I love the idea of haunted houses, but in reality, they scare me to death! Looks like you had a great time though! 🙂
That looks so much fun for Halloween! My kids will love that!
That’s awesome there are two options to choose from. I can’t get my husband to do haunted houses with me, but I’m working on building my kids up. haha
Your Fall and Halloween traditions to visit a haunted house must be beautiful and a lot of fun. But it is not my type of experience. I am not so strong 🙂
I haven’t been to a hunted house in years. I think I would rather see a clear been since I don’t actually enjoyed being startled.
I haven’t been to a haunted house in ages. I’m not really into spooky stuff but my oldest would have enjoyed these, he loves spooky stuff.
Haunted houses scare me. Lol. This looks like fun though. Scary fun.
Oh no,I totally can’t do this. It literally gives me chills, any sort of scary movie or haunted stuff just freaks me out. You are really brave to do this.
This looks so fun. I love anything haunted. I wish I go enjoy it.
This looks like it was such a fun time! I never get to do haunted houses anymore, but I do love them!
My daughter would love it here. She’s all about getting scared and haunted houses.
Omg I would love to check this out even though scary stuff isn’t my thing. The pictures are pretty awesome.
We had a similar haunted house in one of the malls, too bad the buggers shut it down.
What a great experience! I have never been to a haunted house before but I can imagine it’s so much fun to do this before Halloween.
Looks like a really fun place to visit! Reminds me a bit of Fort Fright at Fort Henry in Kingston! Love exploring ‘haunted places!’ (though fort henry IS rumored to be haunted!)
This sounds like a great experience. I love going to Haunted Houses this time of year.
I am really scared of haunted houses but it’s also exciting for me 😀 I loved the photos that you’ve shared.
OMG- this looks scary- but fun!
Your haunted house experience gave me a chuckle! I used to love going to Halloween Horror Nights even though I would tightly keep my eyes shut during the haunted houses (kind of defeats the purpose, right?) I have a love/hate relationship with being artificially scared. It’s a little heavier on the love. 🙂
I can’t do haunted houses at all. This looks way too scary. I’m happy you enjoyed it.
I always wanted to go to a Haunted house but deep inside I just can’t do it. I am too scared to go hhahaha. Looks like you all had fun.
This looks scary and cool, however I am not into house haunting. My brother loves to do this!
I’ve never been a fan of haunted house since I was a kid. I visited a really scary haunted house back then and I couldn’t sleep for several nights being scared. Not my definition of fun, I guess. Cool review, though, and awesome pictures!
Haunted Houses are not my thing because I’m so scary. I don’t like to be scared but I have managed to do them afraid. It will not be a tradition but I did have fun although I was terrified.
I heard this one was really good. My son wants to go. I might take him even though I’m scared myself. LOL
I’m from Georgia and I love visiting the haunted houses and farms each year! Wish I could’ve this year but I no longer live there! Seems like you had a blast though!
Ohhh, I couldn’t imagine myself going out on Haunted houses or exploring such. Very spooky and creepy! Haha! I guess I need to be more braver to do that.
Looks like you had such a great time out there. I love Halloween places but I had never heard of this place. If I get the chance I will definitely have to check it out. Love the Halloween events.
Never heard about this place. We need to check out this. We love to visit haunted house.
We go every weekend in October, sometimes traveling into Chicago for the really good ones. I like the idea of the speed pass because here in the north, it can get cold in October and you don’t want to be standing in line for ours freezing your tail off!
