THE TASTING EVENT (SIP SAVOR AND SUPPORTING ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES) Tuesday 29 May, 2018

Another foodie event in Atlanta but this one was held for a special cause. I attended my first The Tasting event with JF&CS Atlanta. I brought my friend Talaia, who is also a fellow foodie and food app developer of WholeYum.com
Jewish Family & Career Services invited us to Sip, Savor and Support at The Tasting, an iconic Atlanta event that raises funds for the Zimmerman Horowitz Independent Living Program (Z-H ILP). The nonsectarian Z-H ILP is a program of Jewish Family & Career Services (JF&CS) and serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — as well as their families and caregivers — so they can work, live and thrive in their communities.
Tasting featured dishes from more than 25 of Atlanta’s best restaurants, including: 10 Degrees South, 1Kept Kitchen and Bar, Amara, Bistro Niko, Kevin Rathbun Steak, La Tavola Trattoria, Nan Thai Fine Dining, Serpas True Food, South City Kitchen and many more. Guests will enjoyed an exclusive silent auction including vacations, sports memorabilia and restaurant gift cards.
There was so many food samples to choose from. It also gave great exposure to the local restaurants that I haven’t heard about before that is local to the city of Atlanta. All of the food was fresh cooked on the spot and very high quality cuisine food.
The Zimmerman-Horowitz Independent Living Program will continue to provide exceptional support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The generosity of the attendees silent donations helped to increase their self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.Total Raised: a record-breaking $226,714!
This event meant a lot of me, because helping adults with disabilities is near and dear to my heart. I have a brother who is 30 years old with autism so I understand the importance of the assistance adults with intellectual and learning disabilities because they do have special needs.

What a lovely evening to support a good cause. I’m glad they were able to raise that much to help out adults with disabilities. I think we don’t have enough programs to help support them and seeing this is definitely good. There’s also a lot of good food which makes this event even more worth it.

I love foodie events, especially in Atlanta. I’ve had to turn down the last couple of invites but once these storms clear out, I just might see you gals at one. I think supporting adults with disabilities is a great event in and of itself.
