UpTown Columbus Foodie Tour Wednesday 25 October, 2017

My press trip to Columbus,Ga was awesome but I had to do a seperate post just on their popular food tour. I am a big foodie and the Columbus Eats Food Tour was definitely something I was interested in experiencing while I was in this city.
Columbus Eats Food Tour was created to help tourists (and locals too!) experience what she was fortunate enough to experience daily. The idea of a walking food tour in Uptown was born! Where Food Meets History! I discovered the best local restaurants and stores in Uptown Columbus. They also sprinkled in a bit of history, architecture and culture to round out a perfect afternoon.
Uptown Food Tour – You can expect to walk approximately 2.0 miles during the 3-hour walking tour. visit various local restaurants, sampling specialty food items. While the sample portions are smaller than what they are if you were to order the dish in the restaurant, with five tastings, it is enough to serve as lunch. he tour is three hours long and we cover approximately 2.5 miles. While most of the land is flat, we experience a couple of moderate inclines. We will be walking or standing the majority of the time. There are resting points on the tour, where you may sit down, totaling 40 minutes.
Location 1: Meritage
Meritage is a locally owned & operated independent dinner restaurant, wine & martini bar and lunch time deli cafe. Meritage represents a unique blend of cuisines in a casually elegant, warm, friendly atmosphere.
Location 2: My Boulange
My Boulange is a unique restaurant where it brings Paris to Columbus,GA. Its a French cafe, providing freshly baked pastries and breads, coffees, wines and cheeses to the Uptown Columbus area. This was definitely the most upscale location for the tour as we had a salad, quiche with macaroons and mimosas.
Location 3: Nonic
Nonic Bar & Kitchen is a beer bar in downtown Columbus. They have 32 rotating taps featuring flights and multiple pour sizes. The decor was design with the German bar scene in mind.
Its definitely a more relaxed vibe and even some board games to entertain yourselves while you eat and drink. Also all of the artwork here are locally donated by artist.
Location 4: Ride On Smoothie and Juice Bar
Ride On Smoothie and Juice Bar mission is to create the yummiest & healthiest cold pressed juices & smoothies with the goal of bringing better health to the Uptown Columbus area. They use organic produce when possible and buy the majority of their ingredients from local sources.
This was hands down my favorite stop on the food tour. I am going into a more holistic lifestyle so when I learned this was on the tour I got excited. We got a chance to sample all of the Cold Press Juices in shot form and I can say I love them all! After eating the food on the stops, you will be greatful for this little detoxing juice break!
Bonus* Te Amo Tea
Te Amo Tea provides an alternative to more mainstream beverages on the market as they provide tea and tea accessories to our the Columbus area. We didnt stay here long, we just got a Beautiful Peach Black Tea which included an organic black tea with peach and apricot flavorings. Also contains lemon myrtle and calendula flowers. So happy that Columbus,Ga have different and healthy drink options!
Location 5: Mamma Goldberg’s Deli
Mamma Goldberg’s Deli serves hot, steamed sandwiches and sides. We didnt dine at this spot just yet, we got our food ordered to go, so we could make time to our last spot, and then return to eat in front of their store and enjoy the ending of the tour sitting in the patio area. Turkey/Roastbeef/Ham sandwiches were ordered to go with a large juicy pickle.
Location 6: Kilwins
Since 1947 Kilwins has been a celebrated part of Americana having earned a reputation for providing high quality chocolates, ice cream, and confections combined with excellent service.
This was our last spot where we just visited to get a sample round of sweet such as peanut brittle, pralines, ice cream flavors and more.
If you are a big foodie I would highly recommend this tour. It was worth the 3 hours and the walk around helps you get to know the Uptown Columbus area. We had a wonderful tour guide, Astor, who was very profient on the knowledge of all of the food stops and the history of Columbus, GA. We linked up with an amazing set of people (pictured) on the tour that made it more enjoyable but if you want to go with your own group that is even better. Its a great way to spend the early part of your Satuday if you are in Columbus,GA.
The Columbus Eats Food Tour also has a spin off tour called their Happy Hour Tour – which features drinks and appetizers from local bars and restaurants. You will be served light appetizers only, as the focus of this tour is on specialty drinks. I definitely will participate in this tour when I visit Uptown Columbus again!
