WE tv’s Growing Up Hip Hop | Atlanta Star-Studded Premiere Friday 08 January, 2016
Another day, another reality show! WEtv hosted a red carpet premiere in Atlanta for their upcoming show “Growing Up Hip Hop,” an unscripted series that follows the lives of the children of music legends Rev. Run, Master P, Damon Dash, James DeBarge, Jam Master Jay, Sandy “Pepa” Denton and Treach. Now honestly, I wasn’t at this red carpet affair due to scheduling conflicts with another event – but I am sharing the recap of the festivities. From my understanding, they had a real red carpet (subliminal shade to other Atlanta events) and it was a nice production. I think they were filming the premiere too but don’t quote me.
Cast members Angela Simmons, Romeo Miller, Boogie Dash, Kristinia DeBarge, TJ Mizell and Egypt Criss were on hand to enjoy the festivities with over 500 local influencers at SCADShow, where the screening and Q&A moderated by multimedia personality Ebony Steele – took place. Afterward, guests joined the cast at Whiskey Park for a lively after-party featuring music by DJ Mars and Mizell.
Do not ask me why they invited Honey Boo Boo and her mother but they were on the carpet! Is she still doing pageants or is her show still on?
Since I wasn’t at the red carpet or screening, I do not know how the first episode was to give you an synopsis. I hope it isn’t rich celebrity kid problems…maybe, maybe not! I will be watching to see for myself!
“Growing Up Hip Hop” (#GUHH) premieres Thursday, January 7 at 10pm ET/PT on WE tv.
I’m not a big fan of reality TV, but l got a kick out of seeing Pepa :-). Loved Salt n Pepa!!!
SO funny that Honey Boo Boo and Mama June were on the red carpet – especially for this show! That cracked me up.

It will be interesting to see the kids perspective on the industry as the show airs.
I saw a clip for the show. Interesting to see how these kids are making a name for themselves in the industry.
I’d be curious to see what this show is like. I bet my daughter will be watching it for sure.
Omg that is hilarious Honey Boo Boo and her mom were there!!! I love Angela, she always looks so put together! Sounds like it may be a good show!
I am so not a fan of reality TV so I won’t be tuning in. Angela looks amazing! Love her style.

i dont watch a lot of reality tv but this show is kind of intriguing as there are a few stars i grew up admiring. interesting that it is on we tv as well.
I am so out of the loop when it comes to reality TV. I think the only person I would really watch the show for is Angela Simmons cause I like her and used to watch Run’s House. LOL @ “subliminal shade”
I had no clue about this show. I’m so out of the loops as I’ve not have much time to watch tv these days. Looks interesting.
I am actually interested in watching this show but I have been so busy. The commercials look so interesting and compelling.
Red carpet events are so cool. How lucky that you get to go to so many! We hardly have any here in Boston 🙁
I, too, was shocked to see Honey Boo Boo in the midst of all this. I thought (hoped) that show was done for good. 🙂 Too bad you missed the red carpet event.
What a fun event, it looks like an intriguing show! Honey Boo Boo is a little out of place in that line-up though, lol!
I really am over reality tv. I’d much rather watch a well-made show with quality and substance. It’s amazing how far tv has come, I prefer to watch a good series than to watch a movie these days!
Well there is definitely a show for everyone these days! I can’t believe that the Honey Boo Boo crew rates a spot on any red carpet, but what do I know? I am sure that this show must be a very odd and interesting collection of characters 🙂
I’ll definitely be checking this show out. I’m with you – I’m hoping it dead with somewhat real issues and how they are navigating life and making moves hopefully.
I am not into reality tv shows and try and avoid them to the best of my abilities but this one looks fun, will wait for your synopsis
I think I’m one of the few Millennials who doesn’t like reality shows. They just don’t appeal to me for some reason (but show me a good political drama and I’m hooked!) How funny that Honey Boo Boo and Mama June were there!
Neither reality or hip hop are my thing but I’m sure the show will be a hit. Especially with the built in audience that are fans of their parents.
Since reality shows are common now. This is a really good concept. We get to see how the children who live under the shadow of their musically inclined parents feel.
Reading through this post and then June and Honey Boo Boo?! Wow thats hilarious! Sounds like a good show though!
Yeah I’m a bit confused as to what Honey Boo Boo and Mama June are doing there too! lol I guess Lil Romeo is not so little anymore. I’ve always wondered what Master P was up too, My oh my I will NEVER forget his episode on MTV Cribs!
I was scrolling down and then saw Honey Boo Boo and her mom and I was very confused. lol. I saw a preview for Growing up Hip Hop I will check out the first episode and see if I like it.
I haven’t heard of “Growing Up Hip Hop”, but it sounds interesting. I’d really like to see how it is to grow up when your parent is a music legend.
I love Hip Hop music so this would be a reality show that I would be interested in watching!
I suppose this one could be worth watching. I wish you could have been there to get all the tea for us! But when I saw Honey Boo Boo and her Mama….I hollered. I was scrolling and scrolling and then bam. Did not see that coming. LOL Since I don’t have anything nice to say that’s all I will say about that.
I don’t watch much reality television. But seeing the first episode might be interesting.
