In a thrilling partnership, Comcast NBCUniversal, Xfinity, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. joined forces to host a special nationwide screening series of Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated film, Wicked. This exclusive event marked a celebration of the sisterhood and enduring legacy of AKA, the first and longest-running intercollegiate Black sorority, founded in 1908 as a beacon of support and service. During the event, Xfinity surprised nearly 250 local AKA members and gifted laptops to deserving students from Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University.
The highlight of the series took place last night in Atlanta, under the theme “Sisterhood, Service, and the Power of Connection.” Attendees enjoyed an advance screening of Wicked, along with an inspiring filmed interview featuring Cynthia Erivo, the star of Wicked and an honorary member of AKA, and TODAY show journalist Sheinelle Jones, a proud third-generation member of the sorority. Don’t miss their insightful conversation airing this Wednesday, November 20th, on Xfinity’s YouTube channel.
In addition to the film screening, Xfinity showcased its commitment to education and empowerment by providing free laptops to select AKA-member college students in need across various markets. This initiative reflects the longstanding dedication of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to uplift and support its members.
