Where to Eat in Atlanta: Babalu Tapas and Tacos Thursday 05 April, 2018
Here I go eating all over Atlanta again! I love that Atlanta is a growing city with fun foodie places popping up and I want to showcase Babalu Tapas and Tacos. It is located in Midtown Atlanta where they serve…well mostly tapas and tacos. They also have brunch so I definitely had some brunch items! When I think of the name Babalu, I remember Ricki from the I love Lucy show always talking about it. So this place is definitely a modern inspired version of Latin cuisine!
Babalu is an upscale Latin-inspired cuisine, was born out of the love and respect for food and for music genres such as the guaracha, cha-cha, and Latin jazz. Understanding that music unites and energizes people and is a common inspirational thread, they quickly realized they were on to something. They named their new restaurant concept Babalu, in honor of composer and singer Miguelito Valdes, a.k.a. “Mr. Babalu” and after the signature song of the television character Ricky Ricardo, played by Desi Arnaz in the television comedy series I Love Lucy. Music is a big component of Babalu, and Cuban, Spanish, and Latin music of all genres is consistently being played in each Babalu.
I love this message when you come inside the restaurant. You can eat indoor or outdoor. I choose outdoor dining because it was a beautiful day the day I went. I suggest if you are dining in the spring or summer to eat outside too!
Bottomless Mimosa Bar!
So one of my favorite things about this place was the Bottomless mimosas bar! For only $15 you can get your own signature mimosas made to you special with a mobile mimosa bar! It comes tableside with your chose of a bloody mary or mimosa. You can add your own ingredients and choose different flavors. This was a blood orange mimosas that I added fresh strawberries and blackberries!
Tableside Guacamole
So one of the other exciting tableside food they offer is Guacamole. I never seen fresh guacamole made to me to my table at a restaurant. This was fun to watch and expeirence. She was very kind and made it to our liking. Add as many additional items as I wanted as even gave options on texture. We could of choose smooth or chunkier…we went chunkier route.
When she was done she presented it to us in this
Babalu does have a select brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays! They have may options for tapas Avocado toast, breakfast empanadas and more for a fun $10 brunch items at Babalu’s!
All I can say about this is delicious!
