Where to Get a Bento Box in Atlanta: The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar Wednesday 27 June, 2018
It’s foodie time and I think there are very few places in Atlanta that has good bento boxes. Ok wait, before we go further I am sure many of you all are asking what is a bento box?
Bento is a single-portion take-out or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box.
Its a very popular way Japanese eat means. From what I learned from the culture, many people would pack their lunches in bento style. So its a container (box) with different blocked area to put a variety of items. Basically a cool way to compartmentalize your food. So for people who are a little OCD and dont like their food to touch this is the meal for you.
My two foodie friends who jointed me (Talaia and Danielle) I believe it was their first time having a bento box. They loved it! The meal for anyone because its fun, so if you never had one let me show you all the options at The CowFish in Atlanta. I also want to show you all the apps, drink and dessert that are good options too.
Appetizers
CRISPY CALAMARI “T & T” Calamari tubes & tentacles, flash fried and served with a sweet chili calamari sauce
SPICY POKE DIP Spicy tuna poke with salmon and yellowtail, seaweed salad, served with wonton chips
This dip was amazing. One of my favorite appetizers to start my meal. Super delicious!
EDAMAME Soy beans in pod served with a choice of sea salt, alderwood smoked salt or Sriracha salt
Drinks
Bento Boxes
FUSION SPECIALTY BENTO BOX A combo meal featuring both burger and sushi, including the featured mini-burger of the week, sweet potato fries, Thai cucumbers, edamame and choice of a 4 piece Fusion Specialty roll (Mark’s, Firecracker, Blackened Tuna or Tempura Shrimp Roll) – or – 3 pieces of mixed nigiri (tuna, salmon and shrimp)
What I love about the Fusion Speciality Bento Box is that you can make it your own! The Cowfish has a wide range on a variety of burgers and sushi options to choose from! This is what makes this place fun, you can have your burger and sushi too!
THE HEAVENLY VEGGIE (V) Housemade veggie burger, roasted red peppers, sliced avocado, red onion, baby spinach, 7-grain wheat bun
I am pescatarian now, but I know people are weary over burger places because they don’t think they have good veggie burger options. I loved this veggie burger, it actually makes me happy I don’t eat meat anymore. Trust me this burger is very savory!
THE ANGRY LOBSTER Fresh lobster and cucumber inside, topped with premium salmon, fried kimchi, green onion, honey kimchi sauce
Now I have to rave over my Angry Lobster Roll. One of the best sushi creations I have ever tasted. Can’t you see how well I enjoyed myself? My absolute favorite, I would highly recommend this roll if you like lobster. Definitely try this in your bento box or order it by itself for your meal!
Dessert
CHEF DAVE’S NOT FACTORY MADE CHEESECAKE Creamy coconut almond cheesecake atop a golden fortune cookie crust. Finished with almond coconut and raspberry sauce
Oh Chef Dave are you being a little shady with your title? Shady or not this was a very rich cheesecake. It definitely taste homemade and created with love. I indulged a lot in this dessert it was just fluffy and the raspberry sauce topped it all off deliciously!
I would highly recommend if you are in Atlanta and never had a bento box, to get one. This is for burger and sushi lovers. There is something for every type of tastebud so you definitely will get variety here. If you don’t get a bento box here, The Cowfish still has an array of burgers, sushi, crafted cocktails, sake and even spiked and non-spiked milkshakes!

I’m drooling and starving. Everything looks delicious, this bento box looks more filling than usual. That is a bonus. My son does not like his food to touch so this is perfect for him.
Now that’s what I call a meal. I’ve never eaten sushi before but the hamburger would definitely be something I’d really enjoy. And who knows, I might even try the sushi finally.
I’ve never had a Bento box but love that everything is in its own compartment. Im not a fan of all of my food items being smushed together! It’s nice to have so many choices to fill it as well!
I wish we had such a fusion place like this out here in California. I am sure we do, but I’m not sure where it’s at. I love trying new places but need to balance that with what my daughter is willing to eat. This looks so amazing.

That calamari looks scrumptous! I usually travel to ATL 1-2 times a year. I’ll be sure to get a Bento Box on my next visit.

The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar has just about everything you crave. I love the calamari and would like to try their sushi next time I’m in Atlanta.
