Where to Stay in Charleston: Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant Saturday 18 May, 2019

Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant is located just across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, the “Gateway to Historic Downtown Charleston.”  The hotel is a quick and comfortable drive to beautiful beaches, award-winning golf courses, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, plantations, gardens and other area attractions.    The upscale hotel offers an affordable and convenient option to downtown Charleston hotels.

158 distinctively styled guestrooms (including seven suites); a full-service restaurant and bar; a resort-style oasis with pool, indoor/outdoor bar, cabanas, fire feature and sun chairs; yoga room; and complimentary self-parking.

Eliza Lucas Pinckney is credited with making indigo a cash crop in South Carolina. The hotel’s namesake indigo, a plant that produces a blue dye and was an important part of the state’s economy in the 1700’s, is commemorated throughout Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant. Elements include design-focused walls, carpeting, furniture and columns in the hotel’s public spaces, guestrooms, suites and meeting space.

The hotel’s restaurant and bar is named after her.

SUITE TYPE #1

This suite was so colorful and that is the first thing I notice immediately. You get a real feel of Charleston colorful energy with the salmon pinks, indigo (like the hotel namesake), blends of green and turquoise and white. The color scheme to me is very flirty but gives you an instant coastal and ocean feel. The room was a nice size and the furniture had its own personalty. Loving the interior design and it was so fun and comfy to stay here.

SUITE TYPE #2

This suite is a lot larger with more of an open space plan in the suite. It still has the same color scheme, designs and interior furniture and decor as Suite #1 but the bed area is sectioned off into its own room. So I would recommend this room if you want more space and a separation between living room and bed.

eliza’s bar + kitchen

Redefine your dining out at eliza’s bar + kitchen as the newest restaurant to join the infamous Charleston culinary scene. Featuring comfortable seating, spacious lounge areas and inspiring decor indicative of Charleston’s hospitality.

Led by Chef Angioletti, our menu features a new take on lowcountry cuisine in our inviting and inspiring restaurant. Dishes include conversation keeping appetizers, handhelds, locally sourced seafood and inventive American entrees. Breakfast is also amazing as it was a great way to start the morning and with a perfect scenic view of the pools.

POOL AND LOUNGE

The pool area was my favorite place at this hotel. Two beautiful pools; one chlorine based and one salt water based can be seen as the heart of the hotel. Immediately when walking to the pool and lounge area you will feel like you are in some cool, trendy hipster city. There are palm trees, lots of lounge seating and even lounge chairs inside of the pools.

You can choose to swim in the pools or lounge in many of the seated areas. You can even get served food as eliza’s bar + kitchen extends to the outside area as well. It was perfect and vacation mode can be turned on instantly here.

The cabanas were really nice. I rarely see cabanas like this outside of a resort, cruises or some swanky hotel in Miami or Los Angeles but Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant want to dispel that. Charleston definitely added the amazing touch of these cabanas to give you the resort chill vibes here. It worked and I relaxed and took naps here in between being in the pools!

Hotel Indigo Mount Pleasant also features 6,000-square-feet of custom-crafted gathering space, including the spacious 3,000-square-feet Palmetto Ballroom that can accommodate up to 250 guests and may be divided into separate meeting rooms.  For more information or reservations, call (843) 884-6000 or visit the hotel’s website at www.mountpleasantlyindigo.com.
