{Hotel Review} Hotel Riu Plaza Panama in Panama City Friday 29 April, 2016

I am back from my first international solo trip from Panama City,Panama (not Florida) and I have to tell you about Hotel RIU Plaza Panama. If I could stay at any hotel internationally by myself, this was definitely the perfect one to make me feel comfortable and at peace being nervous flying overseas alone. Hotel Riu Plaza Panama is in the heart of the action of Panama City and it’s definitely a jazzy 5 star hotel to stay in!

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the hotel to check-in was the elaborate lobby. So swanky and posh. The lighting, the cool lounge areas and just ambiance made me feel extremely welcomed. I knew this was going to be a wonderful home away from home. I can share with you all check-in/out was a breeze, great customer service by all of the reps and don’t worry they all speak fluent English. Panama is a predominately Spanish speaking country so this made me feel good knowing I didn’t have to struggle with communication with the hotel staff upon arrival and departure.

The lobby had this beautiful fountain decor with floating orbs (glowed at nightime).

Hotel Mini Convenient Store and Eatery Seating

The Hotel had a convenient Cafe Snack store area which was filled with quick food to eat between meals such as sandwiches, salads, all types of drinks, snacks, ice cream and even coffee/cappuccino options. They are in American dollars as well so no need to convert your money here (or in this country USD are highly accepted).

Now the best part of hotels are the rooms right? Need to feel comfy with your home away from home and I really did as I was greeted to this vibrant purple decorated room! Purple accents were everywhere! I have never been in such a colorful but chic room. Ironically when I landed into my purple room…I heard Prince passed…eerily coincidentally but hey I kept saying I stayed in the Purple Reign Suite. The room was big enough to be a suite and I believe all of the rooms are spacious like this with a mini love sofa area for extra room and comfort.

So another great part about this room is the views! The city is so beautiful and as I opened the window I got a glimpse of my first major view of the Panama City.

A view of Panama City from my window

Look at this view! It’s amazing how they built up Panama City and made it into a true city! All of the high rises of hotels and lofts nearby…it was amazing! If you looked further down you could see the street and I promise it looks just as busy as NYC. This is a real city so don’t think Panama City isn’t a real city. It truly is with a lot of action and things going on…I didn’t know but now I do! I will tell more in a detail review of my trip around the city in another post.

The bathroom was super posh too. Purple walls to continue the purple theme as it has wooden sliding doors to open the door to get inside. Very high class and modern.

The bathroom duals as a bathtub and standup shower with a rainshower head. I love rainshower heads! They are so serene to bath from above, but due to my hairstyle I couldn’t utilize it. I took nice bubble baths instead every night which was just as peaceful!

The pool area was beautiful! I felt like I was on a resort, it wasn’t too crowded and one of my favorite parts of this hotel. There are cabanas to use as well which gave me the resort feel and even outside dining. I didn’t get a chance to experience this but when I return I know I will.
