Jennifer Lopez COPS OUT IN NEW SHOW Shades Of Blue | Review Thursday 07 January, 2016
Ok it’s the start of the year and it’s time to introduce you to a new television series. The new show on NBC ‘Shades Of Blue” stars Jennifer Lopez. Wait a min…wait a dang on minute? How is this woman doing all of this? Literally she is debuting her television show as well as judging on the last season American Idol too? How does she have the time?
Over the years, Ms.Lopez has a multitude of careers that spans from dancing, singing, acting – this is the true definition of a superstar. When does she sleep? Well I had the opportunity to screen Shades of Blue where she plays good girl but bad cop. I am not even into cop shows like that, but this show had me intrigued.
Shades of Blue SynopsisHarlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) is a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a tight-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives, led by enigmatic Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Emmy Award winner Ray Liotta, “Goodfellas,” “Field of Dreams”), who often leads the team to step outside the limitations of the law in order to effectively protect their precinct and their own.
As a big illegal job looms on the horizon, the FBI catches Harlee in the act and pits her against her own unit. As a newly turned informant, she struggles to safeguard her on-the-job family and avoid arrest in order to stay with her daughter. (via NBC.com)
My take: So I know you heard about 50 Shades of Grey, the dark side of sexual fantasy franchise, try to spin that into the police force. Jennifer Lopez plays Harlee, who is a good mom by day but kinda a shady cop by night. I didn’t know what to expect initially with this show, as a woman lead for a police show. I am happy to see more female representation in leading roles in strong industries on television so that was a plus! She is also a fashionable cop…yes she ran in some high platform shoes. She is a hot cop clearly, but she means business and this exposes the dark side of a potential bad cop. The first episode was really thrilling and suspenseful – had me on edge and I need answers for the next episode now!
So if you into good guy bad cop…This is GOOD GIRL BAD COP!

I hate I missed the first episode. I love cop shows, so I’m sure I’ll love this one. I was shocked to see Jennifer Lopez starring in a TV show. That used to mean their big screen acting career was screeching to a halt, but not anymore.
I think I will give it a try – at least for a couple of episodes because I like her. I am just wondering if it’s going to be different enough to find a fanbase to keep it going with the cop genre so saturated already.
This looks like my kind of show.
I am a fan of Jennifer Lopez and I agree with you – I don’t know how the heck she gets all the career avenues in her life accomplished!
No s**t!! I didn’t recognize her at first. I had to go back and look xD I hope being on a television show doesn’t mean the end of her career though. It usually does for other actors. Kinda like… the retirement for actual retirement 😛 Never heard of this show though. Then again I don’t have cable. My son took the antenna for his tv. So… all I has is netflix on the PS4 😛
I swear Jennifer Lopez doesn’t age a day! She looks amazing. I’ve seen the previews for this show and I’m intrigued, I’ll have to set it to record on my DVR!

I just watched this the other day and I was shocked. This is a great introduction, the minute I realized what was really going on I wanted more. Go Jenny from the block.
This is still on my DVR and I think I’ll dive into it over the weekend after the 2nd episode airs. With new shows, I like to have back-to-back episodes to watch in case the first one is really good!

I think this is going to be one of the best shows of the year. Everything J-Lo does is gold to me. She’s a fantastic actress.

It’s great that it has just started so I can still catch up on the premier. It looks like a nice show with a lady protagonist this time.

I haven’t watched this yet. I saw it was on Hulu last night when I logged in. I love Jennifer Lopez so I am going to have to check this out.

i’m debating on watching this. i love a crime drama (as i sit binge watching “person of interest”) but i’m not the biggest fan of jlo.
I will give all shows a two episode minimum before I say yay or nay so I will do the same. I am glad to see a female in a lead role like this though
