Welcome to Wakanda! So I finally made it to Wakanda aka Los Angeles. It was the World Premiere of Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER at Dolby Theatre on January 29, 2018, in Hollywood, California. Very honored I was able to walk the purple carpet myself and experience visual royalty and even be apart of it. I was dressed Wakanda Ready and felt all of the black excellence in the room!

This Purple Carpet was very themed, with little motifs and live character portrayal from the movie to make Wakanda come to life. I took lots of photos ops on the purple carpet. This carpet was like no other carpet I ever covered before. This one was cool, because I didn’t have to take pictures of the celebs, I just basked in the moment and snap some shots with my blogger friends. I got to enjoy the moment in real time.

I was so excited to be here. A few years ago I was in LA for the Oscars and I said I always wanted to go to the Oscars and be inside the Dolby theatre. I actually was outside of the Dolby Theatre when I said that as I watched workers put up the carpet and displays for the 2016 Academy Awards. Who knew only two years later, not only would I be inside the Dolby Theatre, but walk a major celebrity carpet and go inside the theater. Manifestation is real. I already manifested to go to Wakanda from this post, and here I am doing coverage for Disney and feeling like I am in a movie. A magical experience for sure.

Dress by Willaura Adams/ Joseph and Elynn

This was my 1st Los Angeles celebrity carpet experience and I had to go all out. I got a custom dress made by Willaura Adams, which took only a week and a half to custom make and tailor to my body. I had to go Wakanda Ready, because I knew this wasn’t just any ordinary carpet. I requested Ankara (African Print) trumpet styled contoured fitted dress, and I will say I think I blended in with the royal celebs quiet nicely! In a following post I will share more details on my Ankara custom dress.

While I was taking my own photos on the carpet in my attire, the world was watching the purple carpet unfold of black fashion excellence. Many of the stars showed up Wakanda Ready too, in African garb and royalty flair. This is hand down one of the best carpets I have seen in a long time, especially with so many beautiful black people in attendance! I felt like this was the Oscars. Well close enough, because it is at the exact location at the Dolby theater where the Academy Awards will be taken place in a few weeks! My favorites were Lupita (belle of the Wakanda Ball), Janelle Monae slayed it, Miles was such a cutie African Prince, and Michael “bae” Jordan was just yummy! Everyone was beautiful, the entire carpet was a royal affair. The hashtag #BlackPantherSoLit is already living up to its name!

Chloe + Haley (grownish) + I

I love Chloe and Haley. Beyonce’s young proteges and newest stars of the ABC blackish spin-off show, grownish. They were so cute and we were all rocking our locs! Locs of Love!

Meagan Good + I

So this was pure syncronocity. I have these goddess locs in my hair that was inspired by Meagan Good. She started this trend about 2 years ago, and before I got ready for Los Angeles, I knew I wanted these Goddess Locs for my carpet look. I am on the carpet taking pictures and I look directly behind me and its Meagan Good and her hubby Devin Franklin! I immediately exclaimed to her, “look Megan you were my hair inspiration, can we please take a photo?” She didnt hesitate and told me of course and we snapped this. Wow I took a photo with my goddess locs inspiration. What are the odds. She is gorgeous in person as well. Love you Megan!

This was an exciting moment to be one of the first people in the world to see the Black Panther film. I have so much to tell you, but it will have to wait until an upcoming posting with my full review. That will be posted soon.
