{Movie Review} Lucy The Movie | #LucyATL Friday 25 July, 2014
They save humans only use 10% of their brain capacity, but have you ever wonder what we would be like if we used more? Scarlett Johansson stars in the new sci-fi action flick Lucy, in which she is the female protagonist and gets the ability to use 100% of her brain. There was a special pre-movie screening in Atlanta for this action packed movie with a very relaxing experience.
Lucy was hosted at Cinebistro, an amazing theatre/lounge to have the movie pre-screening. It was a chic lounge-type atomphere where you can dine and then eat before or during the movie. The attendees were treated with a complimentary cocktail reception before the screening and red carpet affair. The seats in the theater were comfortable and you can even order additional food/drink options while the movie is playing as you would at a regular restaurant. My first time at this theater and I will be back!
MOVIE SYNOPSIS From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. Lucy also stars Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman and is produced by Virginie Besson-Silla for EuropaCorp.
MY VERDICT I absolutely loved this move! Scarlett did excellent in this film as the female protaganist where she definitely doesn’t play the victim. This movie reminds me of a blend between Kill Bill + Matrix, action with a mix of super intelligence. It really does explore the option of a human expanding their brain capacity to the next level. Its an intense movie that literally makes you think and even appreciate your own brain capacity or explore the metaphysical mental space of your own brain. Morgan Freeman playing the perfect intelligent voice of reason and scientist who studies the brain and meets the first human who can test out his theory. Honestly 20% is as high as I would go after seeing the film, after that I don’t think I could handle it. Its supernatural or is it really possible in the real world that we can reach 100% of our brain usage? Like a battery going from empty to full charge – would you be interested in a fully charged brain power? Would us as humans be able to handle 100%?

Rasheeda (Love and Hip Hop Atlanta) won best dressed of the evening! She came to the movies to impress and boy she sure did! Rasheeda looking super movie chic in a pastel pink blazer, distressed denim shorts, white tee, gold accessories + white Moschino clutch. Oh and check out her blue lipstick in “Fantasy” from her Poiz Cosmetics makeup collection.

Oh great to hear! I love movies like La Femme Nikita any time the woman is tough I love it. The pictures are fabulous! I Rasheda is hot in her cutoff shorts, tee and blazer, looks like what I use to wear when my girlfriend and I went clubbing in MPLS in the late 80’s early 90’s.

I just saw this last night! It was AWESOME!
This movie looks so cute! I can’t wait to see it.
Loved the movie, but afraid the 10% thing is a myth. There is NO part of the human brain that isn’t used – or people could get brain damage and not notice it. The whole 10% thing is based on a misquote. Not to mention that the ‘theory’ of how we’d evolve new abilities is entirely made up, since we actually don’t know.
That said, Morgan Freeman is awesome, as always, and I can never get enough of kick-ass female leads – Scarlett does a great job and leaves most of the guys in the movie looking pale by comparison. It’s fun, in an escapist, SF not based on reality kinda way.
