Magic Mike is back! Yup…that one male stripper movie featuring Channing Tatum and he is back with part 2 aka XXL version of the series! Before I get into the screening and the review, I want to share that one of my favorite actresses, Jada Pinkett-Smith, was in the film and did an Atlanta private press conference to talk about her role.

The pretty and gracefully Jada Pinkett-Smith came to Atlanta to promote her role as Rome in the Magic Mike sequel. Let me tell you this women’s body put me to shame…but trust me, this movie wasn’t about her and her sexiness. She is actual a big boss in this film, and even with the sexual and…ah hem…provacative nature in the movie she held her own alpha-woman role in tact. She also has a past with Magic Mike that makes their chemistry a little interesting.

I was super excited to attend the private press luncheon with Ms.Jada as she talked about her new role in Magic Mike XXL. She plays a female emcee of the stripper entertainment industry with a lot of fiesty attidude and seduction. What makes her role unique is that it’s almost the opposite of what Hollywood is used to casting in a film of this nature and theme. When women are in a movie that has a sexual theme…they are the one overly sexualized right?
Well Jada’s character. Rome, although is sexy and seductive naturally in her own right she isn’t the one who is on display. Of course this film focuses on male entertainent and sexuality…she takes charge of it. What I loved about this perspective is that she is the one hosting and putting male’s sexuality on display. I don’t think I have seen that paradigmn before in a film so it was a little refreshing to see how a women can make power moves when it comes to the allusion of sex without being the one display. An extra tidbit about her role as Rome? This role was made for a man, specifically actor Jamie Foxx – but Channing strongly rallied for Jada to obtain the role.
Warner Bros. hosted a “Ladies Night Out” advance screening of their new film, MAGIC MIKE XXL, in Atlanta. The screening opened up with a choreographed dance from some hot & steamy looking guys, who welcomed the ladies in attendance. As the ladies were screaming with excitement, they were then hit with the big surprise of the night that one of the film’s stars, Mrs. Jada Pinkett Smith, was there to introduce the movie to the audience. Now somehow I missed this party…but I have to post this movie private party. They had real male review dancers in the theater!! What?? That’s a super first!
Of course Jada plays an emcee in the film…so of course she came to Atlanta to emcee and bring her characer to life by introducing the performers. I am sure the ladies in the audicence were really thrilled to see an extra show!

The ladies in the audience were even given money (looks like Monopoly money) to give to the guys! Who knew that you could go to the movies and get more than what you paid for to see a film ? Look at the excitement and pandamoium!

Too bad I missed this actually showcase! Looking at the visuals I am sure it was really fun to watch. Speaking of watching…have any of you all saw the original Magic Mike? Im going to get straight into the movie review and my thoughts. For one…Channing is always great eye candy to look at! As far as the actual dancing?? Lets just say I was playing a lot of peek-a-boos with my hands…I am not gonna lie I got kind of squemish and flustered at some parts. It was a lot of gyrating and grinding as you could imagine!
I love the music in the film…a lot of sexy songs and R&B tunes that play on the radio today. There was even a point of the movie where an old school Backstreet Boys song came on and I couldn’t stop laughing because it brought back 90s memories and it was hilarious! Most importantly it was cool because with this series, it gives women some eyecandy…something we as women sadly do not get a chance to see on a regular basis. In film or in real life…its like sexuality is controlled by men to be entertained by but why can’t women be entertained too? That’s why I enjoy the Magic Mike franchise…yes it will make you blush and school girl giggle, but women deserve to have an outlet for visual stimilation too. So thank you Channing Tatum and friends for giving women a place to drool and oogle…even if it’s in the fantasy of a film!
