[NBC TAKEN] GAIUS CHARLES WEEKLY CHAT | Gone Monday 01 May, 2017
Its coming to the home stretch for this season of NBC’s Taken. Another weekly chat with Gaius Charles who plays John on the show. This week is the season finale, and episode 9 called “Gone” set up the scene to prepare for the last episode. In “Gone”, Bryan must save a fellow agent’s kidnapped husband while stopping Mejia’s escape during a prison transfer.

Wait a minute do I see some super black girl magic going on here? So this episode actually focuses on an FBI agent named Marie, who’s husband has just gotten taken. Never seen this dynamic before on television where an actual person of the FBI’s family is involved in a personal situation. Marie is very strong throughout this episode, and only so because she has to due to her position as an agent. This is the first time I am seeing the power of a strong black women being displayed in a manner where she has to be strong and not vulnerable to save a life, which is the love of her life. Powerful moments here.
This was a good stand-off episode. As you all know I am not here to do any spoiler alerts for you as to why there is an intense showdown so I am encouraging you to watch this episode and see why.
Gauis’s character John actually had another powerful moment on this episode, lets just say it was to help Marie off the deep end. I thought that was a great touch. I ask Gaius how does he feel about the representation of African Americans being added to the series shown in this kind of light? He says this is what ultimately drew him to audition and be apart of the show was the diversity of Taken and the inclusive casting. He is honored that he is another representation on television for actors of color in the media and even more of a reason to celebration. He said its just a full diverse cast overall when it comes to this action based show where all types of backgrounds and even women are very much included in this series to make a wonderful storyline.
I’m sad these chats are coming to an end with Gaius Charles but the season finale episode is tonight. Talks of season two is buzzing but I am pretty anxious to see how Bryan Mills will hand this next “taken” situation. This one is close to his heart. I saw the first episode and then my daughter’s soccer practices started, and I haven’t caught up yet. I need to remember to set my DVR so I don’t miss any more episodes.
Oh we love Taken! Me and my husband enjoy watching shows like this – action packed suspense thrillers. I did miss a few episodes so there will be some catching up to do before I watch the finale.

I watched this show for the first time. It’s so good. I get an adrenaline rush just like I did when I watched the “Taken” movies.
