A Night to Remember on A Wrinkle In Time Blue Carpet & Manifesting a Selfie With Oprah #WrinkleInTimeEvent Friday 02 March, 2018

This was a trip of a lifetime. I knew right before I went to #BlackPantherEvent last month, I got more pixie dust to attend #WrinkleInTimeEvent. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I am a firm believer of manifesting your life. Manifesting is when you pray/wish for something and it comes true with your persistent positive thoughts around it. I had a goal, that when I got on this trip I couldn’t return home until I got a photo with Oprah.

I actually had two moments in my life where I was in the same room with Oprah or I could of gotten a photo with her. In 2014, she came to Atlanta for the Life You Want Tour and I was able to cover the event as media. It was an awesome event but no photo opps with Oprah. In 2016, I went to Essence Festival, but Oprah had a surprise apperance for her Queen Sugar show and I saw so many of my media colleagues in the room and took photos with her. I didn’t make it in time because I arrive to Nola late, due to traveling and my hand was broken. I missed her by a mere 30 minutes. I said I know my media career will be going in the right direction if I can get a true photo with Ms. Oprah Winfrey. Well this night was the night the manifestation came true. Read more on the beautiful blue carpet experience for A Wrinkle In Time, and check out my manifesting a selfie with Oprah!

Los Angeles, stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Storm Reid, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Rowan Blanchard and Bellamy Young were joined by director Ava DuVernay for a walk down the blue carpet where they greeted enthusiastic fans at the world premiere of Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time.”

My Rose Gold Blue Carpet Look

So this was my Rose Gold blue carpet look. No I didn’t get a dress made like I did for last month carpet but I do feel like I did a great job with my dress. Seeing that I only was able to get this dress 2 days before my flight to LA (I did a lot of traveling over the last month) so this was perfect. I will do a separate blog on my look and more photos from that to come!

RECONNECTING WITH WINSTON DUKE (MBAKU)

Winston Duke + I

For all of you all who did see Black Panther this is Winston Duke aka M’Baku. Literally my favorite character for many reasons. I did meet him last month at the #BlackPantherEvent and even interviewed him here, but I didnt get a chance to get a selfie. I also manifested this because I wanted my photo. Right before it was time for me to leave I got a chance. He in line for Ava Duvernay (cute he thought he had to wait in line), my friend let him in front of her and he got to speak to Ava. Not too long after I requested to take a photo with him, and he walked with me outside the VIP room so we can take a picture in better light. Don’t I feel special!

Winston + I did the Wakanda salute

Are you done? No! I couldn’t just leave with just a selfie. I had to do the Wakanda salute with him and he was happy do to it! Epic times man. I am so proud of him because a month ago people barely knew him, but to see how people are reacting to him now that the film is out is wonderful. He is so humble and nice and I truly wish him all of the success and happiness for his career! Congrats Winston!

Meeting Kobe Bryant

I dont have a photo with Kobe to prove this, but I did meet Kobe Bryant. This one threw me completely off. I was just entering the El Captain theater, after getting my popcorn and juice as I am approaching the area to my seat someone is coming out of a door. Its this super tall man, it was Kobe the GOAT! I couldn’t believe it! I am a hardcore Laker girl to my core to my soul so for me, this made me starstruck. I don’t even starstruck. I had a bigger reaction to Kobe than I did meeting Oprah the day before. He was so tall, but he allowed me to approach him, and he was so kind. I just blurted out how it was an honor to meet him and I have always been a Laker girl since I was 10! He asked me my name and said it was nice to meet me and thanked me for being a dedicated fan. I am so mad I couldnt get a photo, in the theater they lock your phone up in a bag. So I have the memory forever!

SELFIES WITH OPRAH

The moment I been waiting for since I got pixie dust from Disney in my email for this event. I got a selfie with Oprah. This was not something by accident. I totally manifested this. I wrote it out in my journal before I left for this trip and I can say I accomplished this. Oprah is one of the most powerful personalities in the world so to get this moment was amazing. I will put a disclaimer, I did meet her the day before. Yes, myself and the other 24 bloggers got a chance to interview her (along with Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling) and we even took a group photo.  I will be sharing that blog post in the future, but a group photo wasnt the same as a selfie. I had to manifest this selfie!

So in the VIP Oprah had a table with her name on it. My photo buddies and I went in the room and we saw her table, and lo-and-behold she was there. And we could get to the table! So we made an immediate beeline to her area and we were only a few feet from her. Like literally arms length touching distance from her. But of course, she was surrounded by people. So my friends and I waited, and waited. Very patiently. Then celebs came through to say their hellos and have their moment with her. Oprah to each person she spoke with she would truly have a heartfelt connection with them. She laughed, and talked, and some people she had intimate talks with. I was just in awe on how Oprah handled all of those people being around her. Me personally I would of been claustrophobia, but Oprah handled the pandemonium with such grace.

Angela Bassett stopped by and Oprah got up to have a moment, but after their interaction she started to head out. Uh-oh she is leaving! So my friend and I was literally walking with her and her bodyguard and some of the crowd. The determination was real! Then she almost got to the exit and Jen, who was literally right next to me, saw Oprah and got her moment. I said if Jen got her pictures so will I (lol) and after her I got this moment you see here. I polietely asked Oprah if I could get a selfie before she left, she geniunely looked at me and said sure! What a beautiful woman!

The Disney bloggers at the VIP After Party for A Wrinkle In Time

This was an amazing night. So many magical things happened. I felt like a Disney princess. Thank you Disney so much for allowing me to be one of your bloggers for this incredible experience. I will forever treasure these moments. I will be share more blog posts on A Wrinkle in Time film with interviews and also on some new ABC TV shows. I believe in the magic of manifestation this night.

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light
