ONE MUSIC FEST 2016| Erykah Badu, Ice Cube, Dungeon Family Reunion and more! #OMG2016 Friday 16 September, 2016
This past weekend, over 20,000 attendees packed the 7th annual ONE Musicfest in Atlanta at the Lakewood Amphitheater on September 10, 2016. This is Atlanta’s most anticipated music festivals and its actually one of my favorites to attend and cover. Its a great day full of energy, old school vibe versues new school spins that blend perfectly into a world of music bliss. Good music too, the kind where you know all the words whether its artist from today or 20 years ago. The power of music, hip-hop and soul is married in the artform of One Music Fest every year and it doesnt disappoint ever. I love how not only does it bring out artist that are mainstream many know and love, but lots of indie/underground arts get to perform to their fans as well. There is something for every type of hip hop and soul fan!
“There is a lack of representation for soul, progressive hip-hop, alternative and rock, represented under one roof, in the format of music festivals in Atlanta”, states J Carter, ONEMusicfest Producer. “We have noticed that while there are many pockets of individuals that share taste in the same music, rarely do you see them share in this together. ONEMusicfest was created with the idea of ‘music as the universal language’. Over time we aim to grow this fest into a phenomenon and bring together different sectors of individuals through a unique music platform.”
The audience erupted as they witnessed the historic performance of the entire Dungeon Family featuring: Andre 3000, Big Boi, CeeLo Green, Rico Wade, Big Gipp, T-Mo, Killer Mike, Cool Breeze, Witchdoctor, Backbone, Big Rube, Sleepy Brown, Ray Murray, Slimm, Calhoun and surprise guests Bone Crushers and T.I. Also gracing the stages were captivating performances by Erykah Badu, Anderson Paak, Busta Rhymes, Gary Clark Jr., Ice Cube, Jazmine Sullivan, Andra Day, A$AP Ferg and BJ The Chicago Kid. ONE Musicfest is known for its interactive block party experience, where guests enjoyed nationally and internationally renown DJs, a food-truck village, vending from local businesses, VIP tents and more. Check out my visual photo recaps below of the top performers!
Bad Boy and the Family isnt the only ones have musical reunions. The Dungeon Family all came out to perform as the leading headliners of the One Music Festival. Every last one of them, first time all of them performed together. They even got Andre 300 to come out and be apart of the show. The crowd went crazy, as it was a super to everyone. I knew he was coming!
Lots of energy and The Dungeon Family reunion brought back the vibe of how the Atlanta music scene used to be. Great memories and vibes and it was a great overall show. Every artist showed us that music is a creative form to be celebrated and to feel real talent. Trust me there is a reason why ONE Music festival is growing every year, and more people from all over the nation is coming for these epic concerts. I enjoyed covering it – and I will be back for 2017!
Thanks to the sponsors, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, Gentleman Jack, Heineken, Tito’s Vodka, Clorox, Insecure on HBO, Smokin’ Shells, Kabanos Cigar.
