She Dyed It & Where Are The Curls Girl? Friday 18 October, 2013
So Guess What?
I dyed my hair! I am a blonde. Ok for those who have actually seen me out an about, you already know this fact, but I wanted to share in a blogpost the process.
I have always been scared to dye my hair blonde. Fearfully it would fall out, shed and for some reason I just never pictured myself with blonde hair. But over the last 2 years I have been having a hair epiphany, where I am bored with it and I want to express myself through my tresses.
HAIR TRANSITION 2011-2013
2011 // So two years ago I dye it a burnt auburn color. I loved it. Also got bangs!
2011 – 2013 // I let it grow out for the next 2 years…it created an accidental ombre look (before ombre was a thing everyone was doing). I was growing my burnt auburn color out because I had no idea for 2 year what color I wanted. I also went through a metamorphosis from straight to curly hair. The auburn ombre tips was growing all the way out at this point.
2013 (August) And then I had a green light months ago. I wanted to be bold and go BLONDE! And so I did. So when I initially went to get it dyed blonde, it didn’t exactly turn blonde. It was like a reddish/blondish color – the color didn’t take.
2013 (September) So Operation Kiwi’s Blonde Ambition took effect pt 2 and now I am officially a blondie now. Well its actually 3 colors layered on top of one another: Blonde, The Reddish Color & My Natural Dark Brown Color. I also had straight hair (My stylist idea). I keep getting comments like OMG Kiwi where are your curls???! I got really happy because I realize that my curls are a big part of me now, and people appreciate my curls!
Don’t worry the curls will make a comeback. But there is nothing wrong with being a straight natural either (I might wear that style more as it gets colder).
