Spring Kick-Off: Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival #CherryFest17 Monday 27 March, 2017
This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed here are my own.
It’s officially spring and the weather has been beautiful in Atlanta lately thank God! To kick-off the spring season I love going to festivals to get some fresh air, Vitamin D and local activities. This is why I attended my first Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival! The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event that brings together the community and shows visitors what is special about Brookhaven which is under the Dekalb County district. As a resident of Dekalb county I was excited to attend for the first time and below are photos of the festivities.
Food Vendors
I love a great food trucks. Like food trucks are my thing and espeically when it great weather. I had The Pickle before at another festival so I made sure to stop by at this one. The Pickle doesnt just sell pickles (sorry to disappoint you) but they actually have a variety of food selections. This is the Crawfish Etoufee bowl! I was happy to get my Creole New Orleans foodie fix!
What is a festival without a traditional funnel cake??
King of Pops is an Atlanta foodie staple for the best organic popsicles in town! I love them and they are always at every festival so I was not surprised to see them. They are my favorite!
Children’s Village
Now this area was fun. Definitely specially made for the kiddies! Lots of things for your kids to do such as blow up slides, suspension jumping stations, riding bulls, moon bounces, face painting, live cartoon characters and storytime. It was cute for the kids.
Local Craft and Shopping Vendors
Another cool thing about festivals is that it gives local artists and shopping vendors an opportunity to showcase and sell their work. So many different handcrafted and cool items such as accessories, Bohemian jewelry, African inspired clothing, artistic paintings, custom baby clothes and more. It great to see not only the cool items you don’t normally see in main department stores or malls, but the craftmaship of these local artist and the love they put into their products.
Fun Fact: In 2014 the City of Brookhaven planted 240 Yoshino and Kwanzan Cherry Trees in Blackburn Park. The official tree of Brookhaven, the Cherry Tree is a symbol of peace and goodwill.
I had fun at my first Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival along with other local bloggers. We also got to meet the Mayor of Brookhaven and it was an overall fun event for families and friends. A beautiful way to celebrate spring and bring the Brookhaven community together!
Thanks to Discover Dekalb for bring the community and having a successful two-day weekend for the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival.
