I traveled to Charleston for the first time and one of the first things we did was to go eat brunch. Sunday brunch is a big thing in my city, but I learned it is also a big deal in Charleston as well. So we decided to have our Sunday brunch at 492.
492 is located in Historic Downtown Charleston and showcases the Charleston charm diners are looking for from the vintage building to the modern fixtures within. We enjoyed Executive Chef Josh Keeler’s award-winning cuisine, handcrafted cocktails and desserts prepared by their talented pastry team.
The entire restaurant give you a contemporary modern feel of a city experience right in the south. The atmposhere and menu gave me NYC vibes, especially with their brunch options.

Carafe of Blood Orange Mimosas
Whats brunch without mimosas? A sad breakfast of course, and my friend and I decided to get the Carafe of Blood Orange Mimosas. This was enough for both of us to get two glasses of mimosas a piece. Cheers!

Cinnamon Sticky Bun, Schmear Bagel Plain, Garlic & Onion/Cultured Butter and Challah French Toast Maple, Berry Compote

Now this is what you call a New York Bagel brunch. I don’t know if you have ever had breakfast in NYC, but New York is known for their famous bagels. Well they brought those same bagel style here in Charleston.

Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese, Capers, Red Onion, Herbs
A smoked Salmon cream cheese bagel is so New York! This was so delicious and it came with all of the herbal topping to really create this bagel experience.

Breakfast Sandwich Egg, Avocado, Zhoug, Challah*
This breakfast sandwich is also very New York. It is presented on a Everything sesame seed bun!

Me sitting inside right by the large window in oversized chairs was a great spot to have brunch for two
We ate inside, only because we didnt even realize there was an outside area. It is so cute, so if you want that chill outside patio feel for your brunch this a great vibe to enjoy the meal with plenty of shade.
From the contemporary dining room downstairs to the romantic Southern space upstairs to our picturesque courtyard on King Street, 492 is the perfect place to enjoy cocktails and mingling with family and friends.

Ok was the french toast burnt? Serious question. Wondering if that as some of the topping cooked in. Charleston is my hometown so you know I will be checking this spot out when I head home.
I haven’t taken the family to Charleston yet! I haven’t been since I was a kid, so I look forward to seeing how much it has changed.
