WHERE TO EAT LATE NIGHT TACOS IN ATLANTA | VELVET TACO Friday 27 September, 2019

Velvet Taco is a temple to the liberated taco. They are a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique & funky fast-casual setting. Founded on the idea that tacos don’t have to be associated with Tex-Mex cuisine and can be made with the same care and quality ingredients as fine dining, Velvet Taco is where “anything goes meets the art of the possible.” A fun new late night spot now open in Buckhead!

My best friend Sas and I was excited to try out this new taco place. She is my foodie buddy so this was a great day to try an new spin on tacos! So know that this is a self-serve restaurant. You order and then they call everyone by name on a microphone to get their meals. Seating is indoor and outdoor. FYI very intimate and this place is popular so just know you might make some new sitting buddies during your meal!

‘Elote’ corn queso listo, Valentina, crema, queso fresco, lime

I love Mexican street corn! I lived in Mexico for 2 months this year so I miss my Mexican street corn so when I find it in Atlanta. This was my appetizer before my tacos and omg it was amazing. I am definitely ordering elote corn every time I come here!

Taco Time.  I have never seen tacos presented this way at a restaurant! Its a fun surprise! Remember this is a self-serving restaurant so you have to get these taco yourself and this is you taco transporters. This holds up to six tacos at a time! Fun!

Shrimp & grits – creole remoulade, blackened shrimp, crispy pepper jack cheese grits, charred tomato salsa, micro cilantro, corn tortilla

The first and my favorite taco is the Shrimp & Grits. I’ve had shrimp and grits many ways but never in a taco. This taco didnt disappoint and now I require shrimp & grits tacos in my life on a regular! Highly recommend this!

Fried paneer -tomato chutney, tikka sauce, raita crema, Thai basil, flour tortilla

For my vegetarians/vegans or people who love Indian dishes this is a great taco. I am pescatarian, so although I have some good seafood options here – its great to know they have a Veggie taco selection. This one was great and it is served on a lettuce wrap!

*FYI you can order any taco on a lettuce wrap for no extra charge.

Grilled salmon – avocado crema, house shred, lime crema, roasted corn pico, pickled fresnos, and micro cilantro, hibiscus corn tortilla

Grilled Salmon here is beyond just a dinner dish yes now you can have it in a taco! What makes this taco special is the hibiscus corn tortilla that gives this taco shell its vibrant color. The flavors on this is amazing so looks wise it will catch you but the taco itself is dinner in a taco! Perfect!

Red velvet

The red velvet cake is the only dessert on the menu but this is delicious! Its one of the best red velvet cakes I’ve had in a long time – it definitely taste homemade! Highly recommend to share and I was told it goes great with margaritas!

I really enjoyed this taco experience! Not your average tacos at all by a long shot. Each taco is creatively curated to give you a different experience you cant get at other taco spots. Also its brunch all day here so specialty chicken and waffles tacos, bacon and eggs and steak and eggs tacos served at any time of day.

Speaking of time of day, Velvet Taco stays open pretty late. Most days they close at 12am but on the weekend can stay open up to 3am! Late night tacos in Atlanta sounds like great idea to me. Even if you don’t dine it, please order them to go!
