Where to Eat Ramen in Atlanta : NEXTO Wednesday 08 March, 2017
I love Asian food, so many options and varieties but lately I have been looking for a good Ramen spot. Found a cool spot called NEXTO, Located in a funky and industrial corrugated metal shed, surrounded by a bamboo hedge, NEXTO offers ramen, hot and cold plates and robatayaki courtesy of Chef Mihoko Obunai. The small focused wine program features refreshing, fun and balanced wines from classic and adventurous producers, regions and grape varieties. Japanese inspired cocktails, sakes, shochu and craft beers are offered.
So the cool thing about this place is that it is kinda of in a secret location. It in what looks like an old warehouse that has been renovated into this hipster Ramen spot. I almost kept driving past this spot until I seen this glowing red transformer-like logo. I then discovered this was the Nexto logo. It glows and shines on the spot like the Batman bat signal! This was a first for me. So no NEXTO sign, you are signaled with this as your invitation to the place. Kudos for creativity and thinking outside the box. I’m not sure how this looks in the daytime but at night, this looks awesome!
When you walk inside it as very chill, modern hipster like vibe, but with lots of Japenese motifs. It is a beautiful blend of Japenese culture blended with a cool American flare. Very trendy even playing modern eclectic music as you dine. I loved it.
I would like to give a special highlight to Chef Mihoko Obunai. She came directly to my table to introduce herself and her services to me which I thought was really nice. Chef Obunai has been an integral part of the Atlanta and national culinary scene for quite some time. In 2010 she was selected as a StarChef “Rising Star Chef” and later competed on the Food Network’s “Chopped”. Wow! Thanks for bringing authentic ramen to Atlanta with a little modern hipster twist. Great vibes!
So what’s up with this logo? Well it is the top of the NEXTO asian-inspired scripted text. It makes the logo comes to life, like the head. So again more innovative touches to this very cool spot.

Mmmm! Love me some ramen! If I make it to this area this summer as planned I am totally going there.
I don’t know why I read food posts so late at night, it makes me want to cook another dinner lol. This place does look amazing though!
The atsui cocktail is new to me but sounds good. This place sounds like a winner!
Ooh boy. I just had a late dinner so I can’t be hungry, but those wings look to die for! How wonderful that chef Obunai came to you and introduced herself. Her creations look incredible, and if I’m in Atlanta I will check it out!
I haven’t eaten this in so long – but I should!! Atlanta has some of the best restaurants.
I haven’t had ramen in a restaurant, but I am going to one next week that just opened in St. Louis. Can’t wait, now that I have read your piece!
Spiced Crunch Pecan Ice Cream – seriously that sounds amazing! I love finding good ramen places! I am so picky and usually only eat the stuff in it and not the broth so I need ones that are full of flavor. This spot is adorable!
Now I’m hungry! I hope to make it to Atlanta someday to check out some of these restaurants!
That Tori Paitan looks super delicious. I love soups in general so it’s no surprise I like Ramen. If I’m ever in Atlanta this is a place I would definitely visit. Thank you for sharing
Ramen has become so popular here in NY/NJ too. What great options! I had no idea it was popular outside of my area.
Oh my gosh, this all looks delicious! I love ramen, these photos are making me hungry 🙂
Atlanta is one of the best places for food in the country, if you ask me, and Nexto is a perfect example of that. Of course, I’m an ATL girl, so I might be biased. 😉
Omg that looks amazing. I wish I was going to Atlanta so. Ramen is my favorite. So good.
All the food looks great. I will have to check it out the next time I am in GA visiting my mom. I will make sure I try the ATSUI COCKTAIL.
Everything looks so good and when I’m in Atlanta I’ll be looking them up!
Nexto sounds like a great place to eat. I love ramen, I’m always on the lookout for great new foodie spots. I’ll have to make a stop there when we’re in the area.
Wow, what a cool spot. The logo thing instead of a traditional sign is a really neat touch,
I like the modernized hipster vibe you described. The dishes all look great!
Ramen is good, loving the options in Atlanta. Looking like some fabulous food to enjoy and fill the belly with.
It sounds like I need to visit Atlanta. Some of this looks so good.
Everything looks beyond delicious and the food seems to have almost an Asian Southern fusion thing going on. Love the logo and the meaning behind it too!
I am not much into ramen but it’s always nice to know where to get the best bowl. I think this place is amazing! They have other dishes that look sooooo good as well! It’s worth going here when you’re in the area.
I LOVE ramen! My husband and I are new to Atlanta and so we are always on the look out for a good place to try! thanks so much for sharing it!
I’m not sure I’ve ever tried ramen noodles before but maybe! Haha I love Asian food tho!
I’ve never had Ramen in a restaurant before, but I’ve heard it’s pretty good! I’ll have to try it sometime!
Ramen rules the noodle world! I love the tasty broth, the toppings of every kind, and the firm tasty noodles. I hope they’d open more branches of Nexto. It is rare to find real, authentic ramen restaurants in our area.
I love Ramen. Great you dedicated a post on this amazing dish, Kiwi!
Great review. I would love to try this spot out next time we are in Atlanta. It can be so hard to find awesome small places like this!
So I think I need to hop on a plane to Atlanta right now just to visit this place! The food and cocktails look to die for!
There are some nice dishes here.
I really like your pictures.
Omg so much yum!!! I just love Raman! I swear I could eat it everyday if I could!!!
Ramen is my favorite but there are so many different variations I get nervous ordering it at restaurants. This looks incredible.
Yes please! Everything looks phenomenal. I love how diverse the food offerings are in Atlanta.
I have to be honest. I hate ramen so I will be staying clear of all the places you listed! LOL However, those photos are tempting and my husband loves all things ramen so I may find myself there sooner rather than later!
can you say hungry?!!
this post made me want to hop a quick flight to atlanta..everything looks delicious
Another cool post, Kiwi! I can hardly wait to visit ATL in the summer time so I can check out a few of the spots you featured. I’m not a fan of Ramen, but I’d check out this spot for drinks with friends.
Another great review I’ve never had ramen but it sounds amazing.
You always find the best places to eat, Kiwi. I’ll have to show this to my husband to see if he’d like to give it a try. He’s very open to Asian food since he want to college in Hawaii.
This looks all types of amazing! The spot looks kinda sexy too. This is somewhere I would go with the girls, my husband won’t eat Ramen. Looks great!
I’ve never had this ramen you write of but the food pics look so good, I am willing to take a trip to ATL for this. Looks worth the drive from my side of town.
Ramen has gotten so fancy! I remember feeling cute simply adding in extra seasoning but it has exploded. I am obsessed with Asian cuisine (and thankfully the boy deals with it) and am trying to get there by year’s end so I can pig OUT.
I definitely love ramen. Theres a really good spot near me but it’s kinda pricey for a take out. I need to learn how to make it a home. But this place I’d like to try since they serve drinks and other items as well.
I haven’t had ramen before but this food looks good, I will find a place to try it in my neighborhood.
the ramen looks soooo yummy and the spice crunched pecan ice cream even looks more delicious. I got hungry all over again reading this post and great pictures too!
OOH! Everything looks so good! I will have to check some of these out when I come to ATL!
