Who You Gonna Call? GHOST BROTHERS New Paranormal Investigation TV Show Monday 11 April, 2016
Destination America hosted an exclusive press screening at Graveyard Tavern for their latest show “Ghost Brothers,” a six-part docu-series featuring TV’s first African-American paranormal investigation team. Cast members Juwan Mass, Dalen Spratt and Marcus Harvey were on hand for a brief Q&A and one-on-one interviews following the sneak peek of the first episode (“Magnolia Plantation”).
“Ghost Brothers“ follows three best friends- all raised in religious households – who take their healthy curiosity and passion for the paranormal to the next level. The trio tour a series of haunted houses throughout the U.S. to uncover the history and the truth behind the local tales.
Did you read that right? This is the 1st African American Investigation Team for research paranormal activity on national television! That’s major! A what makes me even more proud is that they went to my alma mater of Clark Atlanta University, I actually went to school with them! Our CAU motto was “Find A Way Or Make One”, and they lived up to that motto by pitching this show concept to Destination America and it was green lit.
During this event, it was a screening of the entire first episode to get a feel of what Ghost Brothers was about. They went to the Magnolia Plantation in Louisiana for their first trip of exploring ghost & spirits. The episode was like watching a live scary movie, only this wasn’t scripted and it was real! They learned the backstory of each location they visited, why it was haunted and then the team uses new technology to track and even try to communicate with these spirits. I’m not gonna lie, the entire time I was like NO…Don’t Do it Bro (pun intended)! Run…Run!!! These guys are pretty brave…and funny. In the middle of all of their fear, I have no idea how they are able to crack jokes when there is a potential ghost in the room trying to kick you out.
Let’s be honest. This concept of research ghost and looking for them is the opposite of what is the normal in the African American culture. We run from stuff like this. Many of us are too spiritual to be associated with ghost and might go against a lot of people’s beliefs. So how were they able to do it? They answered that many people fear what they don’t know, and their curiosity as a unit is what is making them such a great trio for the show. Also all three of these intelligent gentlemen come from strong spiritual backgrounds, so they pray before each investigation and they respect the spirits (I don’t want to call them ghost) and do not think it is interfering with their religious beliefs at all.
You all have to admit this is an interesting show. It’s out of the norm, they are smart young men who are still fun young adults – they just like to play around with paranormal activities from time to time. Serious when was the last time you seen young millennial men of any background doing professional paranormal activity investigation? Hand clap to these brave men for stepping out of stereotypical norms that is placed around them and doing something out of the box. Unlike the 80s movie with the spin-off title moniker (GhostBusters), they are not trying to destroy the spirits. It’s moreso a quick hi and bye and to prove to us they are real. It couldn’t be me, but hey least they have each other!
I can’t say I’ve ever experienced paranormal activity but I definitely have heard stories of certain ‘haunted’ places at home! It’s an interesting field to explore but I’m a big scaredy cat so I’m happy to leave it unconfirmed lol
Looks like an interesting show! I might have to look into it.
Most definitely I experienced paranormal activity. In our youth, me and my sister were woken up to festivities in our kitchen between 2 ladies. Walking in high heels, talking, and washing dishes. When we ran to the kitchen and got our nerve up to go in, it was dark. No one was there!
Oh my goodness, bet this show will be so funny! I’ve never had any paranormal experiences (thank goodness!) I’m the biggest chicken ever and would FREAK out!
I don’t subscribe to the paranormal and things of that nature but I love that these brothers are doing something different. ATL is little Hollywood for sure. I bet it will be hilarious.
This is my first time hearing about this show. I think this is a great idea for a show and I hope it does really well.

Okay, I thought this was a spoof movie at first. It looks like it might be funny, but I don’t mess with no paranormal nothing!
How cute! Ghost Brothers sounds like an awesome thing to watch!
This looks like an interesting show. I love how Ghost Buster’s is making a comeback because I used to LOVE that movie. First the new movie with the female cast and now this Ghost Brothers show. I’m for it.
